1.2 Practice Questions


Directions for questions 1 to 5: Study the given information carefully & answer the
questions that follow:
Following are the conditions for selecting a candidate in an organization.
The candidate -
i. Should be 12th pass and should have obtained 60% in the exam.
ii. should not be less than 21 years of age & should not have crossed an age of 30
as on 1.7.2016
iii. Must be a graduate in any stream with minimum of 55% marks.
iv. Should have a diploma or a degree or a certificate in Computer Science.
In the case of a candidate who fulfils all conditions except –
A. (iii) above but should be a post-graduate, case can be referred to Faculty Head
(FH).
B. (iv) above but he/she has studied Computer Science as one of the subjects in
their graduation, then the case may be referred to Department Head (DH).
In every question that follows, details of a candidate have been given
followed with a question and possible 5 course of actions. We are required to
select a course of action that applies to the man/woman’s candidature. All the
given cases are discussed on the date 1.11.2016-
1. Mutthuswami is an Arts graduate with 58% marks. He got 73% marks in class 12th
exam with non-medical. His date of birth is 22.9.1990.
A) If the case will be referred to Faculty Head.
B) If case is to be referred to Department Head.
C) If the candidate would be selected
D) If the candidate won’t be selected
E) If the given information is insufficient to answer the question
Solution: Option E
Explanation: Since the information is about education in Computer Science is not
given,so no decision can be taken.
2. Rohit passed his BA degree in 2nd class with 58% marks and +2 class in first class
with 69% marks. He did his diploma in computer science. His age will be 34 in Nov.
2020.
A) If the case will be referred to Faculty Head.
B) If case is to be referred to Department Head.
C) If the candidate would be selected
D) If the candidate won’t be selected
E) If the given information is insufficient to answer the question

answer the following questions:
Following are the conditions for admitting students for a Program in Arts.

Given below are a set of conditions which are required to admit a student in
the program of Arts.
I. The candidate should have obtained an age of 25 years of age as on
1.12.2017.
II. The candidate must be a post graduate in any discipline with a
minimum of 55% marks.
III. He/She should have passed the written test with a minimum of 60%
marks.
IV. He/She should have worked for a min. of 6 months after completing his
post-graduation.
In case of an applicant who fulfils all other conditions except:
A. (ii) above, but has completed M Sc. degree, her/his case is to be
referred to Class Teacher.
B. (iii) above, but has work experience of more than 2 years, her/his case
is to be referred to HOD.
6. Mridul got secured 73% marks in post-graduation and has been with a firm for over 5
years after post-graduation. He was born on 12.04.1988.
A) If the case will be referred to HOD.
B) If the case will be referred to Class Teacher.
C) If applicant will be admitted.
D) If applicant will not be admitted.
E) If the given piece of information is inadequate

Explanation: The first condition of clearing the written exam with 60% passing marks
has not been discussed. So, information is inadequate to decide.
7. Anu has been working in Infosys for 2 years after completing her MSc. degree. She

her post graduation.

a. be graduate in any discipline with min. 67% marks.
b. have his/her age in between 28 to 33 years as on 26-09-2017.
c. have a PG degree/ 3 years diploma or must have completed B.Ed. with more than
55% marks.
d. have minimum 3 years’ experience in Teaching.
e. be ready to join 1 year probation.
If a candidate satisfies all the criteria except
i. at (c) above, but is an Arts with Maths graduate with minimum 72% marks and
has an experience of more than 4 years and more her/his case is to be referred
to the Principal.
ii. at (d) above, but master degree’s with minimum 60% marks, her/his is to be
referred to the Vice Principal.
Details of applicants are given below in the questions. On the basis of the
following course of action which is based on the data given above, mark the
answer.
All cases are given to you as on the date 26-09-2017.
11. Manika is a B.Sc. Graduate with 70% marks and has completed PG in M.Sc. She
completed 27 years of age in 2015 and has 3 years’ experience as a Maths Faculty. She
is ready to join probation period of one year.

C) if candidate is to be selected.

years. Mamta’s age is 30 years and she is ready to join 2 year probation.
