Introduction
A Webmap is a powerful tool for visualizing geospatial data, allowing users to explore geographic
information interactively and dynamically through a web browser. This tool is being widely used in the P-
563 Program to allow users to visualize and compare different sources of data before downloading or
converting it to their own computers.

In this tutorial, we will provide a comprehensive guide on how to use and make the most of Webmap
functionalities. From navigating between layers to analyzing attributes, you will learn all the necessary
details to explore and understand geospatial data effectively and efficiently.

Let's begin exploring the Webmaps.

Accessing the Webmap

Typically, the links found on the website galleries will redirect you to a summary page. On this page, you
can view an overview of the data you're interested in, including the publishing date, accessibility,
applicable licenses, and more.

1- On the P-563 Program GIS Hub Site, look for the Webmap you are interested in. In this example,
click on Available Features, and then click on Existing Conditions/Base Data (refer to the image
below).

2- Scroll down to Webmaps and click on "Geotechnical Data" to access the general information map.
3- The button labeled "View Full Details" displays all the information related to this map on the
screen, including tags, groups, text descriptions, and more. Below this, the button labeled "I want
to use this" is the pathway to access the Webmap, just click on that.
4- Select "Open in ArcGIS Enterprise," followed by "Open in Map Viewer". The figure below
illustrates the appearance of the Map Viewer.
The Webmap Viewer
As depicted in the image above, the interface is structured with two menus, each situated on one side of
the screen. These menus serve distinct but complementary purposes, enhancing the overall user
experience and facilitating efficient navigation through the Map Viewer platform.

Left Menu
This menu serves as the central hub for manipulating and interacting with all the information presented
on the web map. In addition to managing existing data layers, users can utilize this menu to seamlessly
add new layers, create and access bookmarks for convenient navigation, and prepare/export PDF files,
among other functionalities.

Add Layers It allows you to add another available layer, web features, and Webmap into the current
Webmap.
Layers It allows you to turn on and turn off any available layer.

Tables Add tables to the Webmap.

Basemap It allows swapping between different types of base maps, such as street maps or aerial
images.
Charts When available, it shows the charts for the layer turned on.

Legend Open the legend for the layers turned on.

Bookmarks When available, it shows the highlighted aspect of the map.

Save and open Allows to create a new Webmap or open another one from the organization.

Map properties Shows the properties of the map.

Share Not available on the license viewer

Create app Not available on the license viewer

Print Used to create and export a PDF of the map created on the viewer

Suggestions for using the tools available on the left menu.

Add new layers to your Webmap

1- Navigate to the Layers menu to switch between the various layers available on the web map.
2- Click on the "Add Layers" button and look for the features you are interested in to incorporate any
additional layers from your organization, enabling comparative analysis.
3- Click on “Browse layers” and then choose “My organization”.
4- In this case, we will proceed with an exploration of how geotechnical classes influence Landuse,
available on the Option 3 Webmap. We can type “Option 03” in the search box, and then click on the
plus sign on the right bottom side.
5- Go to the button “Layers” and now you can see Option 03 The Wadi Hive incorporated on your
Webmap.

6- Refer to the image below to observe the overlay of these layers.

Utilize the Basemap button to switch between different basemaps, providing varying local contexts. For
instance, select from options like street maps or aerial imagery, as illustrated in the image below. This
functionality enables users to tailor the map view to their specific needs, whether focusing on navigation
details or gaining a broader perspective with aerial imagery.

( ) and choose "Show table."
This action will reveal a comprehensive table containing data for all features within the selected layer. This
functionality provides users with a convenient way to explore and analyze attribute information associated
with the layer of interest.

webmap.
Properties This menu allows you change the symbology and styles used for the layer.

Effects It allows to add effects to the data, such as bloom, shadows, blur, etc.
