Definition of Advertisement

Advertisement is a form of communication used by businesses, organizations, or individuals to


promote products, services, or ideas to a target audience. The main goal of advertising is to inform,
persuade, or remind consumers about a brand or offering to influence their purchasing decisions.

Different Media of Advertisement

Advertisements can be conveyed through various media channels. The major types of advertising
media include:

1. Print Media

• Newspapers – Advertisements in daily or weekly newspapers, often targeting local


audiences.

• Magazines – Ads in specialized or general-interest magazines, reaching a specific


demographic.

• Brochures & Flyers – Printed promotional materials distributed to inform and attract
customers.

• Posters & Billboards – Large-scale print ads placed in public spaces for high visibility.

2. Broadcast Media

• Television (TV) Advertising – Commercials aired on TV channels, targeting a broad or specific


audience.

• Radio Advertising – Audio advertisements broadcast on AM/FM or online radio stations.

3. Digital Media (Online Advertising)

• Social Media Ads – Paid promotions on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and
LinkedIn.

• Search Engine Advertising (Google Ads, Bing Ads) – Paid ads displayed in search engine
results.

• Website & Banner Ads – Graphic or text-based ads displayed on websites.

• Email Marketing – Promotional messages sent to potential customers via email.

4. Outdoor Advertising (Out-of-Home Advertising - OOH)
