DISCLAIMER

The most advanced solution for overclocking a Chinese tablet is simply called a Nintendo Switch. Due
to numerous requests from 4PDA and GBATemp communities, I present to you a modification aimed to
simplify the process of overclocking Nintendo Switch to its maximum potential as well as improving
overall user experience through additional tweaks and adjustments.
This modification is for those who desire to make the most of their console both in docked and
handheld modes, to achieve the visuals compared to real modern home consoles, to unlock stable 60fps
in many games, to tremendously speed up the loading times, to keep the native resolution (or above), to
potentially emulate ps2 at fullspeed, to reasonably decrease the noise from cooling fans and so on.
However, I must caution and elaborate that among all existing consoles this is the first time where
overclocking does not simply mean unlocking the frequencies within the regulated limits, but actually
an "Overclocking" and overvolting of every component which can be adjusted and overclocked. By
installing this modification without any theoretical knowledge, essentially you are entrusting a monkey
with a shuttle steering wheel; you remove all responsibility from the creator for potential consequences,
including lifelong government occupation by an organized criminal group and any harm done to your
console, basically you take all responsibility for your actions. According to my systematic calculations
and analysis, there shouldn't be any problems. Fatal incidents reported at the time which this paper is
published tallies at zero still. Nonetheless, your console can be the first because obviously overclocking
is never safe, there's always a chance of something going wrong as previously warned. Using
emuNAND with FAT32 formatted SD card is highly advised as it should minimize the chance of
having software related problems. Additionally, do not forget to back up your data and media. It is also
highly recommended to erase everything that you used for overclocking before installing this mod
(freebird, sys-clk etc.) to eliminate possible conflicts with that software.

10.02.2022 Updated Mariko mod: lowered TDP, increased performance and efficiency, applied initial
undervolting. 4IFIX for MARIKO is not needed anymore, everything should work regardless of
memory vendor.
11.02.2022 HOTFIX: Removed overclocking limits when working from battery as well as when using
a USB Charger. Fix the issue when the console could use an old bootloader when rebooting.
10.02.2022 Added full support for ERISTA umodels.

WHAT HAS BEEN DONE


Overclocking up to 2397 Mhz for CPU, 1536 Mhz for GPU and 2131 Mhz for RAM (maximum values
can vary for each individual unit).

 Auto undervolting.
 Video recording without any restrictions in all games...
 Wireless streaming to external monitors with high bitrate at 60fps (without any noticeable
delay).
 Emulating in-dock state.
 Faster charging.
 Lower current threshold for Official Charger.
 Tremendous decrease in noise from a cooling system.

For clarity, this is an example of fan speed curve in handheld mode (left – modified, right – stock)

As a bonus, here is a combined curve with additional tactile-acoustic comfort zone when using a switch
in handheld.

Of course, the comfort zone shown on graph above is subjective, though it is a good reference point for
understanding the correlation of noise/heat/convenience. Everything is self-explanatory, green zone –
convenient experience, red – inconvenience/high heat/loud noise. Later i'll create additional graphs
showing correlation of oc frequencies, heat and noise levels so that it would become more clear to
understand what to expect when using certain level of overclocking.

 FPS overlay with additional system information.


 Overlay menu to operate different features on the fly (tesla overlay).
 Background FTP server.
 Other sys-modules required for everything listed above to work smoothly.

IN FUTURE PLANS
 Removing Power Limits thus making possible to reach even higher effective clocks (past 9ХХ
Mhz and 13ХХ Mhz for Erista and Mariko accordingly. Right now overclocking above those
limits gives little to no effect.
 Fiddling with undervolting on the whole range of frequencies for both CPU and GPU. This
would allow to decrease TDP without sacrificing efficiency.
 Fix a bug in HOS when the current charge percentage is displayed incorrectly when
overclocking without a USB Charger.
 Fix an Atmosphere bug which leads to a sudden jump in fan speed after waking from sleep.

VERY FUNNY, but seriously, what is it?


Stock 4IFIR should work on any console model. ST1 will work on 90% of consoles, ST2 on 70%. If
you are lucky enough, it'll work for you. It all comes down to a silicon valley lottery if you know what
it means. The higher STAGE, the more aggressive optimizations of timings/undervolting values. Thus
the more powerful and energy efficient your console will be.
