9Lab Assignment Week 9

The document outlines the B. Tech course 'Computer Networks' for the School of Computer Science Engineering and Technology, focusing on the implementation and configuration of Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) using Cisco Packet Tracer. It includes tasks such as setting up a network infrastructure, configuring EIGRP, verifying network connectivity, and analyzing packets, with specific submission guidelines for the assignment. Students are required to submit their work in a zipped format with proper labeling and adherence to deadlines to avoid penalties.

Objective: Implementation & Configuration of Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) in
Cisco Packet Tracer.

Description: EIGRP (Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol) is a dynamic routing protocol that
uses DUAL (Diffusing Update Algorithm) to determine the best path for data packets. EIGRP improves
network stability and convergence time in complex networks

Tasks:

Q1: Network Infrastructure Setup

a) Create a network infrastructure using three routers (R1, R2, R3) connected in a triangular
topology.
b) Assign IP addresses to all interfaces using the Class C address block 192.168.x.x/24.
c) Label each router and network connection for clarity.

Example Network Infrastructure:

Q2: EIGRP Configuration

a) Configure EIGRP on routers with Autonomous System (AS) number 10.

b) Use the "network" command to enable EIGRP on all active interfaces.
c) Assign Router IDs manually to each router.
d) Use the "show ip eigrp neighbors" command to verify EIGRP neighbor relationships.

Q3: Verify Network Connectivity

a) Use the "ping" command to test connectivity between end devices.

b) Use the "traceroute" command to examine the path taken by data packets.
c) Check the EIGRP routing table using "show ip route eigrp."

Q4: Packet Analysis and Simulation

a) Analyse EIGRP packets using Packet Tracer's simulation mode.

b) Observe how EIGRP dynamically updates routing tables upon link failure or topology change.

Example:

Submission Guidelines:

a) The assignment must be verified by the instructor during the lab (Submission on LMS will
only be considered once the working topology on Packet Tracer is verified). Submit the .cpt
file along with the details in word/pdf in zipped format on LMS within 4 days.
b) Zipped files must be saved as per the format RollNo_Lab# (Example: E21CSE632_Lab1).
c) Write the name and enrolment number inside the assignment file. Without it, your
submission will not be considered for evaluation.
d) Provide labels for IP addresses, cable and devices.
e) Submit the assignment in your respective batch’s submission link in LMS. Submission in
other batch’s submission portal will not be checked.
f) Late submission will lead to penalty.
g) Plagiarism will lead to negative grading.
