Course Description: PROJECT WORK Students should individually develop a project. They
should implement their project in college in any RDBMS package or any language available in
the college. The project should web based. The students have to collect data outside practical
hours. Project may be taken outside but must be implemented in the college. Internal marks can
be awarded by the guide by evaluating the performance of the students during the course of
project work. In viva-voce the questions must be directed only on the project work to access the
involvement and understanding of the problem by the students.

The project carries 200 marks is distributed as follows:


Demonstration and Presentation 130 Marks
Viva-voce 50 Marks
Project Report 20 Marks

Total no of Project hours 16 Hours per week = Approximately 180 hours, Including Documentation

Guidelines to Fill the Course Plan

All the Student of BCA- 6th Semester has to submit their hard bind Copy Final Project report
(80-100 pages) & Soft Copy with Power Point Presentation to their concerned Internal Guide.

Order of contents
I. Page Size and Margin
Paper size– Standard A4 Size, 85GSM
Margins:
Top Edge: 1 inch (25mm)
Left Side:1.5 inch (38mm)
Bottom edge: 1 inch (25mm)
Right side: 1 inch
II. Print out
Laser print, printed on both the sides for soft bound and only one side for the final
hard bound.
Texts description inside the report under chapters
Font size (regular text): Times New Roman of 14pt
Spacing: 1.5-line spacing
Chapters: Beginning of each chapter interleaf caption 36 bold Algerian font (36pt)
Centre aligned (Capital letters) (inter
leaf page needs to be separated by a transparency sheet at the beginning of each
chapter (format refer annexure)
Section’s Heading: 14pt bold left aligned (Capital letters)
Subsection’s Heading: 14pt bold left aligned (Title case)

III. Number of copies and submission


1. A PDF copy of the thesis, one copy of synopsis should be submitted to the HOD to
the drive.
2. One hard bound copies of the thesis have to be submitted to the HOD and Internal
Guide.
3. If students want, they can take one copy of thesis and keep it.

BCA PROJECT:
Students are encouraged to work in the areas listed at the end. However, it is not mandatory for a
student to work on a real life / time project. The student can formulate a project problem with the
help of Internal Guide.
PROJECT PROPOSAL PREPARATION GUIDELINES
(SYNOPSIS)
The project proposal should be prepared in consultation with your guide. The project proposal
should clearly state the project objectives and the environment of the proposed project to be
undertaken. The project work should compulsorily include the software development. The
project proposal should contain complete details in the following form:
1. Title of the Project
2. Introduction and Objectives of the Project
3. Project Category (RDBMS/OOPS/Networking/Multimedia/Artificial Intelligence/Expert
Systems etc.)
4. Analysis (DFDs at least up to second level , ER Diagrams/ Class Diagrams/ Database Design
etc. as per the project requirements).
5. A complete structure which includes:
I. Number of modules and their description to provide an estimation of the student’s effort
on the project.
II. Data Structures as per the project requirements for all the modules.
III. Process Logic of each module.
IV. Testing process to be used.
V. Reports generation ( Mention tentative content of report)
6. Tools / Platform, Hardware and Software Requirement specifications
7. Are you doing this project for any Industry/Client? Mention Yes/No. If Yes, Mention the
Name and Address of the Industry or Client
8. Future scope and further enhancement of the project.

PROJECT REPORT PREPARATION GUIDELINES

The following items should be included in the Project Report:


The project report must contain the following:
1) Introduction
2) Objectives
3) Tools/Environment Used
4) Analysis Document (This should include SRS in proper structure based on Software
Engineering concepts, E-R diagrams/Class diagrams/any related diagrams, Data flow
diagrams/other similar diagrams.
5) Design Document (Modularization details, Data integrity & constraints including
database design, Procedural design, and User interface design)
6) Program code (Complete code (well indented)/Detailed specification instead of code*,
Comments & Description. The program code should always be developed in such a way
that it includes complete error handling, passing of parameters as required, placement of
procedure/function statements as needed.)
7) Testing (Test case designs are to be included separately for Unit testing, Integration
testing, System testing; Reports of the outcome of Unit testing, Integration testing,
System testing are to be included separately. Also, details of debugging and code
improvement are to be included.)
8) Input and Output Screens
9) Implementation of Security for the Software developed (In case, you have set up a User
Name and Password for your software, you should ensure the security of User Name and
Password during transmission to server)
