time remote employee. I am proud to announce joined solo.io as the
Developer Advocate
I have prepared the above Roadmap to help you get your remote job to
succeed — When I was doing all this, There was no one to guide me or
explain all this sh*t to make an online presence or create my own brand.
I did it on my own.
You can do it too, Just follow the steps mentioned in the roadmap.
There are various websites available online. Make full use of it.

Why do you ask? They are simple and have a nice community built
up.
Many hiring managers are quite active on LinkedIn — You can build a
nice profile by following my tips below:
Choose what you love — Pick a stack, Because if you don’t enjoy your work
then a remote job also can’t make you happy! Try to learn fundamentals at
first. Deep dive into whatever you are learning — Become knowledgeable in
your field, I’m not asking you to be an expert. While learning, Share it
publicly in the form of posts on LinkedIn or threads on Twitter.
This will also help you to get a job as a Developer Relations Person.
Learn by doing
The best type of learning in this world is “learn by doing” which
means whatever you’re doing. Do it practically.
If you are watching the tutorials — Side by side create a demo or once
you have watched that video start building what you learn today.
You will learn various things that videos or blogs can’t teach you.
Learn in Public
Open-source, as well as this term, are quite similar. Whatever you do,
Make it publicly available.
This will benefit you in multiple ways — You have the validation of
your work. It will increase the social presence among the
communities. It will help you get in touch with various industry
experts.
Start Open-Source
Contribute to Open-source via Code using Github — Start creating free
content over Twitter and LinkedIn, Provide contribution to the world
which is free is a part of open-source.
Write long content in the form of Blogs, If you are from a tech
background it’s easy to write tutorial blogs. — Contribute to
documentation
Pro tip: Search for companies hiring remotely, and Hop into their
docs or GitHub repo. Look out for issues or any places in which you
have knowledge hence, you can contribute. Some places where one
can easily contribute are — GitHub first issues or documentation.
6. Thiel Fellowship for young innovators — Intended for students under 23yo
and offers a total of $100,000 and guidance to drop out of school and pursue
other work.
10. Kleiner Perkins Fellows program matches accepted fellows up with their
partnering Silicon Valley startups over the summer.
Introduce yourself — Be humble and fluent about what you want them
to know about yourself.
People will ask doubts, You can also ask while learning. Further, You
start helping. Your contributions start here… By helping users and
people asking doubts in the communities.
→ Hiring a person who doesn’t know anything about the product or a person
who is actively contributing to the community as well as solving doubts.
→ A person who has knowledge of codebase and product or with one whom
they have not started proc.
If your CFP gets accepted, you can get the opportunity to speak at an
international conference too.
These can help you meet like-minded folks as well as remote hires.
Don’t just attend meetups on the hook, There is a lot of hype in the
industry about events and meetups.
Try to understand your goal, and event goal and categorize it. If it
aligns with your future and career perspective then only move
forward, otherwise leave it.
Talk with not only the speakers or panels but attendees too. Try to
learn from them as well as industry experts’ talks and keynotes.
This will boost your networking too. Share on social media that you
attended meetups/events for reach.
