1. Evaluate the following without the use of a calculating aid:

21. Two circles of radii 7cm and 5cm intersect each other at points A and B such that
AB = 8cm. Calculate the area of the region in which the circles overlap.

Calculate the radius of the circle.

23. A cylinder with a length of 300cm and a diameter of 40mm must be machined on
three planes in such a way that a cross-section will form an equilateral triangle.
Calculate the smallest volume of material that is cut away.

24. A crank mechanism is shown in the figure below, where XY is a tangent to the circle
at point X. If the circle radius OX is 10cm and OY is 40cm, determine the length of
the connecting rod XY.
