Mini Project

ES – 102 Electronic workshops

ID Number: 23EL061
Name: Nandan Hirenkumar Limbachiya
Batch: D-04
Branch: Electronics
Project title: Door security alarm
Description of project:
❖ The door alarm system is an electronic system that gives an audible alarm when the
door knob it is connected to, is touched. It operates on the principle of mutual
induction. That is, kite production of an electromotive force in a circuit resulting from
a change of current in a neighbouring circuit.

❖ If the door is the metal type then it will sound an alarm whenever any part of the door
is touched, whereas for the wooden door, the door alarm system is connected to the
handle and hence, sounds an alarm only when the door handle is touched.

List of components:
List of electronic components used in mini project is as follows:
❖ Printed circuit board
❖ 9 V battery
❖ IR sensor
➢ IR LED
➢ IR Receiver
➢ IR Transistor
➢ Signal LED
➢ Power LED
❖ 9 V Buzzer
❖ Single core wire
❖ Screw Terminal
Construction and working of door security alarm system:
❖ Construction:

➢ Battery’s positive terminal is connected to IR module’s VCC terminal.

➢ Then batteries negative is connected to GROUND terminal.
➢ Buzzer’s positive terminal is connected in IR module’s VCC terminal as well as
battery.
➢ Buzzer’s negative terminal is connected to output terminal of IR sensor
module.

❖ Working:

➢ S1 and S2 are the two switches that are used in the circuit so that both can be
put in two different, places i.e. one of them can put in front of the locker while
another one can be placed on the front door.

➢ When the switch S1 is pressed diode DI which is linked with it starts conducting
as the transistor T1 and T2, which is attached with the resistor begin its
conduction.

➢ For the oscillation purpose Transistor TI and T2 gets positive feedback which is
provided by capacitor C1. The presence of any intruder is indicated by the low
tone frequency which is generated when switch S1, is pressed.

➢ Same kind of condition occurs when switch S2 is pressed. Diode D2 which is

linked with the switch, S2 begin its conduction and offers power supply the
transistor T1 and T2, which is in the waking, state and as a result sound comes
from the speaker attached to it. But in this instance a high, frequency tone
comes out which is a sign that there is some intruder present around the locker.

➢ The, sound that came from the speaker can only be stopped by cut off the
power supply.

Name of components with price:
The effective cost table breaks down the pricing of components required for the construction
of the door security alarm system. It includes costs for IR sensors, power sources, and other
necessary components, providing insights into the overall affordability of implementing such
a system.
The name of the electronic components with price is shown below.

Sr. No. Name of component Quantity Total price

1. 9 V Battery 1 35 ₹
2. IR sensor 1 35 ₹
3. 9 V Buzzer 1 25 ₹
4. PCB (3x4) 1 25 ₹
5. Screw terminal 1 15 ₹
6. Single core wire 1 35 ₹
7. Cardboard box 1 0₹
Total amount: 170 ₹
Applications of the door security alarm system:

➢ They guard against one of the most common security intrusion events -piggybacking
or tailgating.
➢ Door alarms are effective burglary protectors.
➢ At the moment a door is opened by a burglary attempt, the sensors can activate a
flashlight, a loud siren, and a phone call, or any combination of the above.
➢ With a door access control system in place, you will be alerted whenever a remote
door is opened without proper authentication or at a specific time of the day or week.
➢ You can also set up your door alarm management system to directly alert the police or
your own security terms.
➢ When a door is opened by an intruder, the system can activate a siren, flashlight, or
phone call, or a combination of the three.
➢ The phone call can be connected to the owner’s phone, a private security contractor,
or law enforcement.
Conclusion:

➢ In conclusion, the door security alarm project successfully addressed the need for
enhanced home security by implementing a robust alarm system triggered by
unauthorized access. Through the integration of motion sensors and sound alarms,
the system effectively alerted homeowners to potential intrusions, providing a
heightened sense of safety. Additionally, the project demonstrated the feasibility
of leveraging affordable, off-the-shelf components to develop cost-effective
security solutions suitable for residential use.
