As we begin Day 12 of the Digital Profit Course, I hope you have an idea of what digital marketing is
and how beneficial it is. We will introduce to you some new concepts which you may have heard of
before, but never knew what it meant.

The previous and today's lesson has been made more informative so that you can spend more time
on your blog before we proceed with the rest of the practical training.
Digital marketing works by employing certain strategies to grow traffic on your website, and/or to
make your brand/business more popular on the Internet. In today’s session we are going to
introduce to you various strategies digital marketers adopt. All of the below mentioned techniques
will be put to use in the later chapters when you have been prepared for it!

Some of the more common strategies used in Digital Marketing are given below:

SEO - SEO or Search Engine Optimization teaches you how to stay on top of search engines, when
it comes to website rankings. People use search engines like Google, Bing to find what they are
looking for. If your website are in those results, you’ll get relevant traffic. Relevant traffic means
people who are interested in what your website has to offer. The process of getting your website
ranked on the search engines for the relevant terms is SEO.

Social Media Marketing - Social Media Marketing, which teaches you about marketing on
Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter, and also about video marketing. All these social networking sites
are excellent methods of digital marketing. More people would see, visit the merchant’s pages, and
invite their friends to visit them.
Advantage of social marketing is people are more likely to share stuff they find helpful, funny or
interesting in any way. For example, if you have a website or blog on say ‘travelling’, if you’ll post
information on “Famous Celebrities’ Honeymoon Trips”, people will share the stuff and you’ll get a lot
of traffic.

Paid Marketing – You can buy traffic (visitors) from various traffic sources such as Google Adwords,
Bing Ads, Facebook Ads etc.

Email Marketing – Here, you build your email list through your website and then send emails to
your list inviting them to visit your website.

Please note that all of the above strategies work even better if you actually have a useful website
which people love, bookmark and share. The goal is to create a content rich blog or website that
provides value to the visitors. ‘Value’ here means that your aim is to provide high quality relevant
information to your visitors which is helpful to them. This will make them bookmark your website and
recommend it to their friends.

Take for example, the website http://www.improve-vision-naturally.com. The website promotes

several affiliate programs like "39 Dollar Glasses" “Rebuild your Vision”. If you go through the
website, you will find that it is rich in content relating to improvement of vision. This is what you will
need to do to attract traffic.
As you read these strategies, you may realize that you have already come across one or all of them.
You may have clicked on an advertisement to be taken to a merchant’s website, received email
promoting a product and others.

How Web Works?

Now that we have covered the basics of affiliate marketing and introduction to digital marketing, we’ll
move towards the next major step – building your Website!

To get your website live on the Internet, we need to create a website, register a domain name, get a
web hosting space, and upload it on the web server. To get a better understanding of these things,
we first need to learn how the web works.

Our goal in this entire course is to teach you things in the simplest way possible. We’ll keep that in
mind as we move along.

The Internet is made up of tens of millions of computers. A website "lives" (or is “hosted”) on just one
of them. When you visit a website, how does your computer know which one of those millions of
other computers has the website you want?

First, it's very important to understand that each computer on the Internet has an "IP Address". "IP"
stands for "Internet Protocol". IP addresses are similar in many ways to a Phone number. Like every
phone has a phone number, similarly every computer has an IP address.

IP addresses are made up of 4 numbers ranging from 0-255, each number separated by a dot or
period. For example, 231.12.139.112 is an IP address.

If you want to call a phone, you dial its phone number. If your computer wants to talk with another
computer, it uses its IP address.

So, whenever you visit a website, a system (called DNS) automatically converts that domain name
to the IP addresses of the computer (web server) where that website is available (or is hosted).

Your browser requests the website, and receives the website files (HTML) and displays the website
in your browser.

This is how it happens!

1. Open a domain name in your browser (for example: Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla
Firefox etc.).
2. DNS converts the domain name to the IP address of the web server where the website is hosted.
(DNS first connects to the DNS server, and then determines the IP address of the web server)
3. Your machine requests the website from the webserver.
4. The webserver delivers HTML files (with other content like images etc.) to your browser.
5. Your browser receives the HTML files, reads and understand them, and displays them on your
screen.
Here are some of the terms we learnt today so that you can get more clarity.

Domain name: A domain name is a way to identify and locate computers and resources connected
to the Internet. Every company or organization that wants to be on the internet will register a domain
name for use as their online identity. Every domain name has a suffix that indicates which top level
domain (TLD) it belongs to.

For example: in the domain “google.com”, “.com” is the top level domain (TLD), also called as
domain extension.

DNS (Domain Name System): Domain Name System, or DNS, is the most recognized system for
assigning addresses to Internet web servers (aka "Internet hosts"). Somewhat like international
phone numbers, the domain name system helps to give every Internet server a memorable and
easy-to-spell address.

DNS Server: A DNS server is any computer registered to join the Domain Name System. A DNS
server runs special-purpose networking software, features a public IP address, and contains a
database of network names and addresses for other Internet hosts. When we purchase any domain
name, we need to link it to the DNS server of our web server. (We’ll explain this in detail later on.)

Website: A website is a set of related web pages served from a single web domain. A website is
hosted on a web server. All publicly accessible websites collectively form the World Wide Web.

Web Server: A web server is a computer where the website is stored, and that helps to deliver web
content that can be accessed through the Internet.

Web Browser: A web browser (commonly referred to as a browser) is a software for retrieving,
presenting and traversing information resources (including HTML documents) on the World Wide
Web. It is responsible for opening websites on your computer.

HTML: HTML or HyperText Markup Language is the language for creating web pages and other
information that can be displayed in a web browser. Thus, a website is made in HTML.

Getting Your Own Website

In our last session, we learnt a lot about how the web works. Now, we will move towards going
through the steps involved in creating a website!

We’ll cover every step in detail slowly for complete understanding, but today we’ll give you an
overview.

If you have already created a blog and do not wish to create a website, you can continue to work
upon your blog and try to improve it.
However, several members wish to own a website instead or create a website as an extension to
their blogs.
This begins the same way you did to create a blog - think of an idea or topic!

Following will be the order of steps that you would need to complete to get started with owning a
website -
Step-1: Choosing your niche (covered in the next chapter)
Choosing your website’s topic is a very important step. Start making a list of what you like to do,
what you are really passionate about and what topics you can make a website on. It can be about
almost anything - cooking, health, fitness, skin care, travel, finance, sports, gadgets, technology,
games etc.

Step-2: Getting your domain name (details in the later chapter)

Of course, you’ll have to register a domain name for your website. Make sure it is brandable and
easy to remember.

Step-3: Getting web hosting space (details in the later chapter)

Your website will be hosted here (i.e. stay here on the Internet so that anyone can reach it).

Step-4: Creating your website in HTML and/or creating your Wordpress blog (details in the
later chapter)
HTML is the basic language your website will be built it. In addition to HTML, we’ll teach you how to
build a website using readymade layouts and templates, without the use of any major technical
knowledge.

Below are some of the options that you can consider for creating a website -
1. wordpress.com
2. weebly.com
3. wix.com
Let's go through the steps you need to take to get started on wordpress.com, for example.

1. Visit wordpress.com and click on 'Create a Website'.

2. Click on 'Get Started' and select a Category that broadly defines the topic you have chosen for
your website. After you select a General Category, you will be asked to choose a specific category
for your website.

3. The next step will take you to a Gallery from where you can select a Theme or Layout for the
website. If you are unsure of this step, you can select one and change it later.
That’s all that you need to do for today. We’ll help you choose the Niche or topic for your website in
the next chapter.

As mentioned in the four steps given at the start of the chapter, you’ll soon have your own website
on the Internet accessible by everyone. Once your website is up, we’ll start working on various
online marketing techniques.

Please note: A free website will not allow you to join any affiliate program and if you don't want to
invest more in domain name and hosting space, then you can skip the website creation process as
of now and continue with your free blog easily.

Choosing Your Niche (Topic) For Your Website

Like explained in the previous lesson, choosing your website’s topic is a very important step. Today,
I am going to help you with that.
You should consider the following points while choosing a niche:
1. It is necessary for you to feel passionately about the topic on which you are going to make your
website.
2. Enough people must be buying products related to the niche or spending their time knowing more
about your niche.
3. It shouldn’t be too competitive.
4. If you can find some products to promote (from affiliate networks we joined before) in your niche,
that’s even better.
Let’s consider the above points one-by-one.

You should like the topic yourself

Pick a topic that you find interesting. To be able to create value, fill a void. Otherwise you might get
bored and won’t be able to contribute much. It can grow really well if it is your hobby you absolutely
love. Is it travel, politics, teaching, cooking or something else?

Are enough people buying or looking for more information in your niche?
You may choose one topic, but if there are not many people looking about it, then your website won’t
get much traffic. So select a topic of your choice, but it should be something that others are
searching for as well.

Is your niche too competitive?

Your niche shouldn’t be too broad that your direct competition is with big companies. For example, if
you like cooking, a blog on just ‘recipes’ will be too broad. I’ll recommend that you should rather
make a blog on ‘vegetarian recipes’ or maybe can go even narrow to ‘healthy vegetarian recipes’. So
if you like cooking, you can make a website on ‘healthy recipes’, ‘protein rich recipes’, ‘weight loss
recipes’ etc.

If you like fitness, you can make a website on yoga, bodybuilding for beginners etc. and not just on
'fitness'.

Are there enough advertisers to promote?

If there is nothing to recommend and gain commissions from in your niche, it will be harder for you to
monetize your website. You can always place ads (example: Google Ads) on your website. But, we
hardly recommend choosing a niche with enough advertisers to promote. For example: Go on
ebay.com and amazon.com and see their best-selling products.

Whatever topics you think interests you, you must consider those topics. The saying will always
remain true that if you do what you like, then work will become fun and not work at all. It is extremely
important you choose an area where you have interest. If you are still facing difficulty I recommend
that you shortlist the areas and then do a survey among 20 people within your friends and family.
You will get a fair idea what is trendy and what is not. You can ask people to vote on the area where
they search most on the web.

Example -
In the previous chapter, I took you through the steps of creating your account on wix.com.

After today's lesson once you have selected your topic, you can then choose a design from the
gallery of readymade templates available on wix.com. You can select a Category and then the sub
category to get the most relevant designs in templates for your topic. You can then select the design
that you like best and start editing to customize it.

Remember, that you have come this far and created a template for your website, all for Free!
In the next lesson I'll help you choose a domain name that will make your website look professional.

Choosing a Domain Name

Now that your niche is finalized and you have chosen a design for your website, we should get a
Domain Name for your project that would make it look more professional.

For example -
flipkart.com
slideshare.net
wikipedia.org
Consider the above domain names. Here, ‘flipkart’, ‘slideshare’, ‘wikipedia’ are the domain names
and ‘.com’, ‘.net’, ‘.org’ are the domain extensions.

Here are a few things to keep in mind:

 .COM is the most popular domain extension followed by .NET and .ORG.
 .IN is a popular extension for Indian market, so if your website focuses on Indian market, .IN
extension is fine as well. It is also a cheaper option to consider.
 Always prefer getting a .COM domain, if it is available.

The above site will help you to check availability of multiple domains at once.
How to choose your domain name?
 Make it easy to type: Your domain name should be easy to type.
For example: yogatraining.com is a good domain name, however yoga4u.com is not, because
people will confuse ‘4’ with ‘for’ and ‘u’ with ‘you’. You shouldn’t need to tell people that it is
numerical four or it is y-o-u you.

 Keep it short: The shorter the better. If your domain name is long and complex, you risk visitors to
mistype or misspell it. A shorter domain name is definitely attractive.
 Avoid numbers and hyphens: Like I said, you don’t need to tell anyone it is “f-o-u-r ” or it is numerical
four. And, hyphens can be forgotten by people. So, avoid both numbers.
 Make it brandable/catchy/memorable: Well, that’s a no brainer. Your domain name should be easy
to memorize. If it is catchy, that’s even better. Share it with some of your close friends and see what
they feel about it. Make sure it is appealing and makes sense to others also.
 Make sure it doesn’t violate any trademark and it shouldn’t be too similar to any popular website.

it with a carefully selected list of nouns, verbs and adjectives, before searching for unregistered
domain names and showing you the results.

This is it, folks! All the best to you for finding a good domain name.
Once you have shortlisted few domain names and you are still confused which one to choose then
do a small survey among your friends and family. Any survey among 20 people would be useful. So
in case you have 3 domain names that you like, then ask 20 people that you know to vote which one
they like the most. Tell them your niche (area) and give them the list of domain names. They should
select one. You can also do this voting on your Facebook account and ask all your friend list there to
vote. This is one of the best ways if you are confused about choosing your domain name.

In the next chapter we will help you get the domain name that you have decided. Please note that .in
domain names are cheaper than .com domain names. It is ok to buy any of them. If you do not
want to spend any money in buying a domain name, I recommend that you simply work
extensively on your blog and do not worry about creating a website. A blog and a website
 serve the same purpose. If you are more tech savvy and want to learn and implement more, we
recommend that you go ahead and create your website as well. This will really help you in the long
run.

After today's lesson, once you have decided on a topic, it is important that you also start collecting
some information on it. Remember that you do not need to be a content writer or creative to get this
information together. You can make this work fun and a learning experience . You are about to
become a website owner soon!
Here is how you can gather information on your topic -

1. Browse through other relevant websites and blogs online.

For example, if your topic is related to food recipes, go through other websites which are on different
types of food recipes and see what information they have provided. You may take inspiration from
other websites on the Internet, however by careful that you do not copy and paste it on your website
since it can lower your page rank or even get your page blocked.

2. Read books and magazines and pick up information related to your topic.
3. Discuss with family and friends around you and exchange ideas and thoughts. This is the best
way to get new and interesting material for your website!

Remember that readers who would be visiting your website would be looking for something
interesting and informative, so provide them with only relevant information. Avoid making this
reading material too lengthy, and only stick to providing a limited number of pages on your website.

To create your own website, after the last 2 chapters that we have gone through, you should have
the following ready with you in order to proceed -

 A Niche or Topic of your choice

 A domain name that is relevant to your topic
Hence, now that we have figured out a niche to start a website in and chosen a domain name, we’ll
proceed with registering a domain name and getting web hosting space to host our website on the
Internet.

Registering a domain name

There are several reputed companies you can register a domain name from. Some of them we
recommend are:

We’ll recommend you to get a ".com" domain name, as .com is the most common domain extension
available. If you specifically want your website to target Indian people, you can also get a ".in"
domain extension. If you are looking for a cheaper option, you can also go with .info extension. You
 can also Google more about registering a domain name in India and see if any discount deals are
going on! Typically a domain name will cost you around Rs.100 to Rs.700 per year.

Steps to Register a Domain name on godaddy.com -

 So to register a domain name, simply visit in.godaddy.com and search for a domain that would be
suitable for your website.
 Keep the topic that you have decided in mind and think of names that would be relevant to it.
 When you decide on a name that is available on godaddy.com at a reasonable price, click on Select
and Continue to Cart.
 You will be offered with more plans where godaddy.com protects your information online, or provides
both domain name and web hosting in a single plan etc. You may consider any of these plans or
skip them if you are not interested.
 You can finally proceed to the payment option and register your domain name.
Note - Avoid purchasing domain names that are too expensive unless you are sure of a particular
name for your website. If you do not wish to get a domain name at this stage, you can get a domain
name included for free or cheaper price when you get the Web Hosting plan for your website (steps
given later in the chapter)

Getting web hosting

Why do you need Web Hosting -

A good and reliable web hosting plan is required whether you own a blog or a website. If you want
your blog/website to reach its readers, it is very important to get a web hosting plan. This enables
your website to be linked to the Internet using very powerful connections, that is, it allows users to
access the pages of your website. If your blog or website crashes or if you face technical problems
due to poor web hosting , building an audience or traffic for your product would be very difficult.
The following are some of the reputed hosting companies, we recommend you to take web hosting
space from:
 www.bluehost.com/track/servicemagic/DPC - recommended by our experts. Get your domain name
and web hosting plans by following this link. Go to 'products' in the top menu and select any of the
plans under Shared Hosting.

platform where you can opt for a plan to connect your blog/website to the Internet and make it
accessible to users.
 http://www.1freehosting.com/ - completely free web hosting space, but not very Reliable (maybe you
can choose this one in the beginning, and move to a more reliable hosting in the future)
There are different type of hosting plans available. Opt for the shared hosting one, and choose the
Smallest plan to begin with. If you purchase a plan for a short duration, for example, a year, then you
would need to renew it again to let your blog/website continue.

Steps to get your own Web Hosting plan through Bluehost or Siteground -
1) Blue Host web hosting plans and its steps
 Visit the website www.bluehost.com/track/servicemagic/DPC. Copy and paste the link in your
browser to reach the website.
 Click on Get Started Now
 Select a 'Starter' plan which can help you host a single blog or website. Opt for the second or 'Plus'
plan if you have multiple blogs or websites which also provide you with unlimited space for your
pages.
 After you select the plan, you will be asked to enter the domain name that you have already got for
your website(through godaddy.com or any other website). If you do not have a domain name at this
 stage, you can enter a free name that you'd like to get for your website. Check the availability of the
name here or try with other name options.
 Reach the next step and scroll down to review the package information. In the Account Plan, you
can get the cheapest or the shortest web hosting plan. You may select or un-select the Domain
Privacy Protection, Site Backup Pro, Search Engine Jumpstart etc. according to your personal
requirement.
 Finally, you may enter your card details and get the web hosting for your blog/website.

2) Site Ground web hosting plans and its steps

 Visit the website https://www.siteground.com/index.htm?
afcode=425c39940722ef25ef80fb1045b3ec36 Copy and paste this link in your browser to reach the
website.
 Click on See Plans.
 Select a 'Start Up' plan which is meant for beginners or for owners of a single blog or website. If you
have multiple blogs and websites you can choose the 'Grow Big' plan which hosts multiple websites
and also offers premium features.
 After you select a plan, you will be guided to a page where you can register a domain name (if you
had not got it earlier) for free, or enter the domain name if you have got it from any other website
(e.g. godaddy.com).
 Proceed to the next step and fill in your Contact and Payment information. Scroll to the bottom and
review the Purchase information. Un-select the Extra services that are included by default if you do
not require them. You may or may not get the Domain Privacy plan in your package.
 Accept the Terms of Service and Submit your Order.
Important Things to Keep in Mind:
 Go for Linux with cPanel hosting. (Note: you don’t need to know Linux, cPanel or other technical
things.)
 Once you will order web hosting space, it can take up to 2 working days to get your account setup
before you can begin using it.
 Call their support numbers if you have any confusion ordering the domain name or web hosting.
Once you have got both the domain name and web hosting, we’ll tell you how to get your website
live on the Internet. Soon, you’ll have your very own first website on the Internet entirely created by
yourself. That’s an AMAZING start to your digital career.

name and web hosting. They will help you out and give you a lot of suggestions from their end.

previous lessons, and start adding it to the website you have created (for example on wix.com /
wordpress.com / weebly.com etc).

Make sure to provide only relevant information and not make it too lengthy. A professional website
owner also provides proper contact information so that you can be accessible to the reader if
required.
 Again, if the above sounds too complex, I would recommend that you read the instructions on How
to Create a Blog and work on your blog extensively. A good blog will serve the same purpose
and you will be able to join affiliate programs and do a lot of other things with your blog. However
having a good website will do wonders in the long run, therefore take up the challenge, follow the

What is FTP?

FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol. FTP is what most webmasters use to upload their files, pages,

In today's chapter I'll explain the various Ad types that you will come across when you start joining
the affiliate networks from the next chapter.

1. Text Ads
A text ad is a form of online paid advertising that is typically just text with a link to your site and copy
with a description of the promotion one is offering. They are generally offered through search engine
advertisers like Google and Bing. They generally appear along the sides of the search engine results
page. The words used in these paid text ads are bid on as part of a company’s keyword research
and management strategy.

Banner Ads are simply a hyperlink built into a graphic, instead of a hyperlink in text format as you
see in a simple Text Ad (explained above). When a user clicks on the banner Ad, the hyperlink
directs him to a new website related to the advertisement in the Ad.
Such type of Ads are multisensory, that is, users can read the message on the Ad while being able
to look at a visual representation. This increases the interest, recognition and more importantly,
action!

A web widget (commonly referred to simply as a 'widget') is a small program that you can easily put
on your website, blog, or personalized start page. A common example of a widget that most of us
run across almost every day are those Google advertisements. These ads are produced by placing a

Widgets aren't limited to advertisements. A widget can be anything from a voting poll to a weather
forecast to a list of current headlines to a crossword puzzle. You can utilize them in your blog to

In today's lesson we will be discussing how the reach of Social Media network such as Facebook,

Facebook that started in the year 2004, now has over a Billion active users monthly, and over 700
million users daily.

Create a Fan Page

In the drop down menu on the top right, you would see an option to Create Page. Once you've
chosen the correct category for your site, you can set up a page and start sharing it. The page can
contain information about your website, the URL, interesting content, some photos to build interest
etc.

Interact with Fans

The most important part of a Facebook strategy is interaction. It requires time and patience to build a
fan page and maintain interaction.

Paid Advertising
 In the drop down menu on the top right, you would see an option to start Ads. Facebook offers
packages that allows the page owners to run paid Ads and promote their website.

Build a Network
Once you've created a Facebook page, you would need to attract people to that they find out about
your website. You would need to network with other similar Facebook pages and users with similar
interests. You would also need to keep updating your page so that users 'Like' it.

Run Promotions
By running promotions you can encourage people to visit your Facebook page, and consequently,
your website. You can create offers, special deals or any form of incentive that would encourage
people to visit your page.

Share Images
Facebook is a great place to share multimedia content that could not be placed in your blog or

Twitter
Tweeting about your blog can be an incredible way to reach out and connect with your prospective
customer. With over 500 million users, you can find an entire segment who would be interested in
reading your page.

Once you have created your account on Twitter, you can start tweeting and find people with similar
views and interests!

1. Be Pro-active and creative in your Tweets. Short tweets under 100 characters get a higher

Get the Opt-In

You should never add an email address to your mailing list unless the contact has officially agreed to
accept mails from you. If emails are sent to a user without their permission, they may get reported as
Spam. You would need to send them an opt-in form and have them subscribe first. That opt-in
protects you from getting Spam reports. And the fact that the subscriber took the opt-in means he’s
more likely to open your emails.

Set an Expectation to the Subscribers

You would need to tell potential subscribers exactly what they can expect if they join your list. You’ll
need to send them a weekly or bi-weekly email with tips and information, for which you would need a
complete plan before starting. Set up their expectations so they’ll be aware of your schedule and be
waiting for your email.

Be Consistent
Take your time to come up with an identity or theme for your emails which matches your blog. Try
and keep everything synchronous, from the color scheme of the layout to the writing style of the
email. This way the recipient would know instantly when he would receive a mail from you and would

The 3 big PPC systems that are known are - Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing, and MSN
Keywords.

When a user would type in a word relevant to your business, your text Ad would be displayed

You are charged if and when the user clicks on your Ad, and hence the name "Pay per Click". The

Google Adwords is a great "paid-search" platform to advertise, which allows paid sponsored listings
to appear on the Top and Side of result pages. Google ranks ads based on the budget, keyword
bids, landing page quality, and click through rate. It also allows for a user to optimize campaigns
themselves.

To run paid campaigns on Google, you will of course first need to create an account, or have an
existing account in Google Adwords to get started.

Set up Account
This is the first step you need to make in order to run paid advertisements on Google. You would
need to set up your billing, currency and country information.

Set up Campaigns
At this step you would need to make various decisions regarding whether -

Advertise on Search, or Display, or both?

This means that in Search Network, the consumers are actively searching for the products you are
offering and your matching Ads are presented to target them.
In Display Network, your Ads are shown to everyone and not just the targeted consumers. The users
are shown your Ad while they are on websites not related to your product, hoping they will remember
you Ad or product when they require it.
Kind of Devices to Target?
While Default settings show your Ads on all devices such as desktops, tablets, mobile phone, you
can still select any particular device on which you want your Ads to appear and adjust your Bids
accordingly.

Languages and Locations to Target?

If your targeted users are in different countries, then you can select the languages in which you want
your Ad to appear. Google does not translate the text you decide for the Ad, so you will need to
create the Ad in that language you choose.
If your Ads are only for the Indian audience, then English or even Hindi for a particular segment of
people would be your choice.
Deciding on a Budget
You need to enter the Daily Budget that you have decided to spend on your Ads, which can be any
amount. This should not be too low since Google will only show your Ad for some time and then stop
when your budget gets exhausted, nor too high since it can become expensive. You can start with a
low budget say about Rs 50-100 to test the performance for a couple of days and then make
changes. You can manually enter the bids for your Ad, such as Rs 0.50 / Rs 1 or higher bids,
depending on the type of Ad.

Create Ad Groups
In Ad groups you can create the Text Ads for your products and insert keywords.
You would need to decide on a Headline which would be displayed at the top, and has a limit of 25
characters. The description can come in two lines, with a limit of 35 characters each. The Display
URL means the address of your page, where the user should be directed to, when he clicks on your
Ad.
When I search for "Branded Shoes" on Google, the following kinds of Ads get displayed-

Add Effective Keywords
Prepare a list of 20-30 relevant keywords for your campaign. Keywords are words that a user is
likely to use while searching for a product or service that you are offering.
For example, if you are running a campaign for "Herbal Beauty Products", then you can use
 keywords such as -
herbal beauty, safe beauty products, natural beauty products, herbal face and body care, best herbal
products etc.
Create Multiple Ads
You can create multiple Ads in one Ad Group. You can also create more than one Ad Group within
one campaign. Utilize these tools and evaluate which Ads are performing well or create new ones to
optimize your spend.

Track your Performance

Make sure that you regularly review the clicks and impressions you receive from your Ads and
certain keywords. For example, if one of the keywords coincides with the choice of your competitors
and demands for too high a bid, you might want to discontinue using that keyword and bid higher for
the ones that are performing well.

 Fill in your Details and Information that is required from your end.
 Go through the series of steps and choose the type of advertisement. You can customize its size
and colours.
 When you have selected the Ads, click on 'Submit and Get Code'. Adsense will provide you with an
HTML Code that you need to copy and paste in your web page.
 Google allows you to place the Ads anywhere, but the common places are Top, Bottom and Side
Panel of a page.
 When you have decided the spot for your Ad, paste the code you have copied from Google. If you
want to display more than one Ad, you can repeat the procedure.
 Once the Ads have been inserted, you can publish the page to your site in the usual way.
 You can test the website page on the web browser and you would see Ads displayed on your page.
If the Ad does not appear immediately, you will need to wait for a while and reload the page.
 How Much Can your Earn through Adsense
The commission you receive per click depends on how much advertisers are paying Google for the
particular Ad.
It's important to note that we cannot estimate how much you will earn based on your
traffic. People always want to know what the average amount is per click.
No one knows the answer to this except Google. It would be impossible for any Adsense publisher to
give this information because the Ads cost different prices and we have no idea what advertisers are
paying.

The more competitive the search term, the more the advertisers pay and the more you earn
as a publisher.
Even though Google will not reveal how much you are earning for each Ad that is clicked from your
site, you can still login to your account at any time and see the total amount of revenue you've
generated that day, week, month, year, etc.
For example, if you see that you've made $12.60 today from 9 clicks then you can calculate that your
average click-thru commission was $1.40 per click. Remember that's only an average. You won't
know how much each specific Ad brought in.
When the Adsense Account Gets Disapproved
When we apply for an Adsense account and the application gets rejected, it means that the account
has been disapproved. In such a case we can re-apply for an account after some time.
But when Adsense stops your account for something illegal or anything wrong you have done, your
account would be banned and you cannot re-apply with the same name.
If your Adsense account gets rejected, you should not lose hope and look out for steps to rectify it-

 When Adsense rejects your application, it will usually give a reason like "insufficient content", "due to
copyright material" etc. You will need to understand what went wrong and how it can be fixed.
 You will need to re-work the design of your blog or website. A common mistake is to use a
unattractive or distorted design and apply for Adsense. You can search for professional themes for
your page (which are normally cheap) and then re-apply with the new design.
 You might need to improve the quality of your content and articles. If you have copied the material
from elsewhere, you will need to clear it before re-applying.
