1. You have received a letter from your English friend, Marry.
I really excited to see you next month. I’ve must booked my flight. Could you
show me the best way to get to your house from the airport ?
I’d like to go on a few tríp while I’m there. What are the best places to visit? By
the way, as you know I’m starting my art degree next year, so I’d love to visit
some museums and galleries while I’m staying with you. Are there any near you?
Dear Marry,
It's wonderful to hear from you, and I'm thrilled that you're coming to visit
me next month

Regarding your question, the best way to get to my house from the airport is
by taking a taxi. It will take you around 30-40 minutes to get to my place,
depending on the traffic.

There are many exciting places to visit in my town. We can go to the beach,
explore the city, or even take a day trip to a nearby town. I will make sure to
plan some fun activities for us to do while you are here.

I'm excited to hear about your upcoming art degree, and I'm delighted to tell
you that there are several museums and galleries near my house. These places
will provide you with a great opportunity to explore the world of art and
connect with other artists.

I hope this information helps you plan your trip. I can't wait to show you
around and have an amazing time together!

Best regards,

2. Thanks for inviting me to come and stay with you. I’m going to take you up on it!
I’m really excited about it. I’m wondering when it is the best time for me to come.
What will the weather be like at that time and is there a lot to do?
I’d like to bring some presents for yours parents. Do you think they would like
some chocolate? What products from my country do you think they may like? I’m
looking forward to seeing you and your family soon.

Dear Marry,

It's great to hear that you're excited to come and stay with me. The best time
to come would be around June or July as the weather is pleasant and there
are plenty of outdoor activities to do. You can enjoy hiking, swimming, and
exploring the city.

As for the gifts, thank you so much for thinking of my parents. Chocolate is
always a good option, and I'm sure they have a sweet tooth and always
appreciate a good box of chocolates. Perhaps you could bring some traditional
snacks or sweets? It would be a great way for them to experience your culture.

I can't wait to see you soon and show you around my town. If you have any
other questions or need help with anything, don't hesitate to ask.

Best regards,

3. I’m very happy to see your name on the Friend Forever wedsite. Do you remember
me – Anna, your classmate at college? What have you been up to since we last saw
each other?
I’m going to visit your city next month from 10th to 20th. Is there any chance of

Can’t wait to see you again! Email soon with your news and bring me up to date.

Dear Anna,

It was great to hear from you! I remember you very well, and I'm glad we are
still in touch after all these years.

Since we last saw each other, I have been busy with my job as a teacher. I
have also been traveling a lot, which has been very exciting. I would love to
hear more about what you've been up to as well.

I am thrilled to hear that you will be visiting my city next month! It would be

Can’t wait to see you again!
Write with your news and bring me up–to–date.

Dear Anna,

It is so nice to hear from you! I am doing well and I hope this letter finds you
in good health. It feels like it has been ages since we last saw each other.

I recently began a new work with a translation company. Work starts at 7:30
a.m., thus I have to wake up early to have things ready. I am still living with
my parents in the same old place. However, I am happy to say that I have
finally found a lovely home in the countryside where I plan to move in soon. I
love the peace and quiet of rural areas, and I think it will be the perfect place
for me to unwind after a long day at work. I am really excited about it and
can't wait for you to come and visit me there.

Apart from that, life has been pretty normal. I have been working hard at my
job and trying to balance it with my hobbies. I have recently taken up
painting and it has been a great stress reliever for me.

What about you? How have things been going for you? I would love to catch
up and hear all about your news.

Take care and let's plan to meet up soon.

Best regards,

5. How time flies! I was very busy on my last day of staying on campus before the
summer vacation. I am sorry that I didn’t have time to say goodbye to you.
I’d like to meet again. Where do live now? What are you going to do during the
hoiliday? I know you love the countryside very much so why don’t you come to
visit to show you around.

Dear Anna,

It was great to hear from you! I'm sorry to hear that we missed each other
when you left campus, but I'm glad that you're interested in catching up. I've
actually moved to a small village in the countryside since we last saw each
other, and I'd love to show you around if you're interested in visiting. There
are plenty of hiking trails and scenic spots nearby that I think you'll love.

As for my holiday plans, I'm planning on spending as much time outdoors as

possible. I really want to explore the area and take in all the beautiful nature
that surrounds me. Of course, I'll also find some time to do some reading and
writing too.

It would be great to catch up with you soon! Let me know if you're interested
in visiting, and we can work out a time that works best for you.

Take care,

1. According a report by the UNICEF, the number of children and young people
who are victims of school violence is alarming over the world. Their studies
have shown that fast changes in students’ psychology, lack of parental care and
ineffective management of school greatly contribute to school violence.

According to a report by the UNICEF, the number of children and young

people who are victims of school violence is alarming over the world. The
report suggests that fast changes in students' psychology, lack of parental
care, and ineffective management of schools greatly contribute to school
violence.

One of the major causes of school violence is the psychological state of

students. Some students may have mental health issues such as depression,
anxiety, or anger issues that can lead to violent behavior. Another cause of
school violence is the lack of parental care. Children who grow up in
abusive or neglectful homes may not receive the care and attention they
need, leading to behavioral problems that can manifest as violent
tendencies.

Effective management of schools is also crucial in preventing school

violence. Schools should have clear policies and procedures in place to
prevent and respond to violence. Teachers and staff need to be trained on
how to identify and address behavioral issues in students.

To address these causes, there are some possible solutions. Schools should
prioritize mental health support for students, including counseling and
therapy services. Parents should be educated on the importance of
nurturing a safe and supportive home environment for their children.

In conclusion, preventing school violence requires a comprehensive

approach that involves addressing students' psychological needs,
improving parenting, and implementing effective school management
practices. By working together, we can create safe and supportive learning
environments for all students.

2. Due to the rapid growth of technology, business organizations have switched
over from the traditional method of selling goods to the electronic method of
selling goods.

Online shopping has become increasingly popular due to the rapid growth
of technology. It has provided customers with the convenience of shopping
from their home or workplace, saving them time, money and effort.
Despite these advantages, however, there are also some disadvantages to
online shopping.

One of the major advantages of online shopping is convenience. Customers

can shop at any time of the day or night, without having to worry about
store hours or crowds. They can easily compare prices and products from
different websites, and can often find better deals online. Online shopping
also eliminates the need for customers to travel to physical stores, saving
them money on transportation costs.
Another advantage of online shopping is the ability to access a wider range
of products. Customers can find products from all over the world, and can
easily purchase items that are not available in their local stores. They can
also access a wider range of sizes, colors, and styles, making it easier to find
exactly what they are looking for.

However, online shopping also has some disadvantages. One of the biggest
concerns is the lack of close examination of products before purchase.
Customers cannot physically touch or try on products before buying them,
which can lead to disappointment when the product arrives. There is also
the risk of fraud and scams, with some websites selling counterfeit
products or stealing customers' personal and financial information.
In conclusion, while online shopping has many advantages, it is important
for customers to be aware of the potential risks. It is important to shop on
reputable websites, read product reviews, and be cautious when entering
personal and financial information. By doing so, customers can safely and
conveniently enjoy the benefits of online shopping.

3. Children all over the world use smartphones for various purposes. Some
children seem talking to their friends for long hours, while others spend their
time playing many games on the phone. Smartphones are a great source of
communication and entertainment. However, the continual use of smartphones
can have bad effects on children’s health as well as academic studies.

Smartphones have become an integral part of our daily lives. Children, in

particular, are highly attracted to them due to their numerous features and
functionalities. However, the overuse of smartphones by children can have
several negative effects on their physical and mental health, as well as their
academic studies.
One of the most significant adverse impacts of excessive smartphone usage
among children is the impact on their eyesight. The blue light emitted by
smartphones can cause eye strain, dryness, and even myopia. Moreover,
prolonged usage of smartphones can lead to poor posture, neck and back
pain, and even obesity, as children tend to remain inactive while using
smartphones.
In addition, excessive smartphone usage can have a significant impact on
children's academic performance. Time spent on smartphones can detract
from time spent on homework, studying, and other academic activities,
leading to poor grades and a lack of academic progress.
To mitigate these negative effects, parents and guardians can take several
steps. One possible solution is to set limits on the amount of time children
spend on their smartphones each day. Encouraging children to engage in
physical activities and outdoor games can also help counteract the
sedentary behavior associated with smartphone usage. Additionally,
parents can monitor their children's smartphone usage and encourage
them to use educational apps instead of games.
In conclusion, while smartphones are a great source of entertainment and
communication for children, their overuse can have negative consequences
on their health and academic performance. By taking appropriate
measures to limit smartphone usage and encourage healthy habits, parents
can help ensure their children's overall well-being and academic success.

1. Violence
In the modern era, school violence has become a grave concern on a global scale,
as highlighted by a report released by UNICEF. The main contributing factors to
this issue can be parental upbringing and problems within schools. From my
perspective, I aim to shed light on the underlying reasons and propose significant
remedies to tackle this complex problem.
On the one hand, there are several compelling causes for school violence. One of
the most vital reasons is a lack of parental monitoring. To be more specific, the
demanding nature of employment and the hectic schedules often prevent parents
from allocating numerous times to their children, thus obstructing the
implementation of effective child-rearing methods. Consequently, this gradual
neglect instills in children the belief that they can do everything without
punishment or reprimand. Another rationale for the prevalence of violence at
educational institutions lies in the not very strict management from the school side.
Schools are still heavy on imparting knowledge to students, sometimes forgetting
the task of educating people. Admittedly, the school's handling of disciplinary is
not really satisfactory, leading to the continued use of violence in schools.
Since school violence is one of today's most pressing issues, no one can guarantee
that it will be eradicated. Nevertheless, prevention is the key to solving this
problem. The first and foremost important recommendation is that parents should
be very involved in their children's lives, confide in them, and ask them about their
thoughts and fears in order to demonstrate that they are not victims of bullying. In
terms of education, a safe learning environment is essential for developing a
student's knowledge and personality. Schools should hold a variety of
extracurricular activities so that students can communicate with one another and
strike up many new relationships. Educators should not only teach students but also
support and guide them in the right direction.
In conclusion, violence is a prevalent phenomenon in contemporary society,
encompassing various causes from problems of families to schools. Therefore, it is
imperative for all parties involved to consider the consequences and come up with a
wise solution to keep these children out of trouble with aggression in schools.

4. competitions.
9
In recent years, competition has become a concerning problem within the
educational environment. Numerous people enunciate the idea that
competition is a vital component in establishing positive personality traits and
behaviors. However, others argue that holding undue competition leads to
detrimental effects on both teachers and students. From my perspective, I will
shed light on the underlying problems and furnish my own viewpoints.
On the one hand, competition organizations in the educational environment
furnish students with numerous benefits. One of the most auspicious
advantages is that they encourage students to explore their hidden talents and
access a variety of resources, leading to a deeper understanding of various
subjects. Furthermore, competitions offer numerous opportunities for students
in order to develop their well-rounded skills such as creativity, critical
thinking, and problem-solving skills... For instance, it is undeniable that team-
based competitions play a crucial role in promoting collaborative and listening
skills among team members.
On the other hand, we should not overlook the adverse consequences of
competition undue within schools. Competitions can suffer pressure on both
teachers and students, diverting resources towards winning competitions in
lieu of focusing on overall learning standards. Furthermore, the excessive
demands of competitions can have negative impacts on the physical and
mental well-being of students and teachers, leading to burnout and exhaustion.
Last but not least, competitions run the risk of becoming overly competitive,
undermining the true educational value of learning. If the sole purpose of
education
In conclusion, while competitions can encourage students to upgrade their
skills as well as explore their talents inside, it also comes with potential
drawbacks, such as negative effects on human health and the quality of
education. Therefore, I am of the opinion that competitions should be
considered as a helpful tool to ignite students’ development, rather than the
sole focus of schooling. Ultimately, the goal of education should be to instill
a love of learning in students and assist them in becoming well-rounded,
thoughtful individuals.

ADV & DIS OF E-LEARNING
E-learning, the utilization of electronic technology to facilitate learning, has
become increasingly popular in the modern educational landscape. It offers
several advantages and disadvantages that shape its effectiveness and
adoption.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why E-learning is beneficial.
Firstly, one of the key advantages of e-learning is its flexibility. Learners can
access course materials and participate in activities at their convenience,
allowing for personalized learning schedules. This flexibility is particularly
valuable for individuals with busy lifestyles or commitments. Moreover, e-
learning breaks down geographical barriers, enabling learners from different
parts of the world to access the same educational content.
Secondly, the use of multimedia elements in e-learning, such as videos,
interactive quizzes, and simulations, caters to diverse learning styles and
enhances engagement. It also provides opportunities for self-paced learning,
allowing students to grasp concepts at their own speed.
On the other hand, there are a number of disadvantages of E-learning that
people should take into consideration.
The principal one is that the absence of face-to-face interaction can hinder the
development of interpersonal skills and immediate clarification of doubts.
Furthermore, e-learning demands strong self-discipline and motivation, as
learners must manage their time and stay engaged without the structure of
traditional classrooms.
In addition, Technical challenges, including internet connectivity issues and
software glitches, can disrupt the learning experience. This can be frustrating
for both learners and educators, particularly for those with limited
technological proficiency.
In conclusion, e-learning offers the advantages of flexibility, cost-
effectiveness, and diverse learning formats. However, it comes with
drawbacks related to interpersonal interaction, self-discipline, technical issues,
and limited practical training.

13
Part 2:
Set 1: lựa chọn: a brunch of flowers, a holiday, and a family party.
To be honest, mother-in-law is going to be 80 next Sunday and I want to
give her a surprise and here are three things suggested: a bunch of flowers,
a holiday, and a family party. Although it might sound a little bit casual, I
believe the third option, which is a family party, to be the best choice for
several reasons which will be explained below.
Firstly, the most important factor of a family party is that it is an occasion
for the whole member of the family to gather. Gathering is significant,
because my mother-in-law is living in the countryside and does not have a
lot of opportunities to see her sons, daughters, nephews, and nieces. She
would be very happy if she had a chance to see all of her beloved ones
around her during her special day.
Secondly, the second most compelling feature of a family party is that it is a
good time for the rest of the family to learn about the family’s history.
When my sons and daughters visit my mother-in-law’s house, they will be
told stories about how their great grandfather and mother lived. These
lessons can be passed down from generation to generation.
Compared with other options, which are a bunch of flowers and a holiday,
I feel that they are somewhat too casual or too formal, although they are
also a good option to choose. In this case, the disadvantage is that my 80-
year-old mother would find it really difficult to go on a long holiday. At her
age, she rarely goes out of her house or afford a short trip.
In conclusion, I choose a family party to be the best choice amongst three
given options.

14
Set 2: lựa chọn: swimming, aerobics and yoga. Which sport do you think is
suitable for you?
As a student who wishes to keep fit and healthy during the summer
vacation, I believe that swimming would be the most suitable sport for me.
Firstly, swimming is a low-impact, full-body workout that can provide a
range of physical benefits. It can also help to alleviate stress and anxiety, as
well as promote relaxation and mental well-being.
Secondly, swimming is a highly accessible and enjoyable activity that can
be done in a variety of settings, such as public pools, lakes, or oceans. It can
also be done alone or with others, making it a versatile and flexible option
for a summer sport.
Lastly, swimming can be a lifelong skill that can be useful in a variety of
situations, such as water safety or competitive sports.
While aerobics and yoga can also be beneficial and enjoyable sports, they
may require more specialized equipment or instruction, and may not be as
adaptable to different environments or skill levels as swimming.
Therefore, I believe that swimming would be the most suitable summer
sport for me, as it offers a range of physical and mental benefits, is
accessible and enjoyable, and can be a lifelong skill.

Set 3: lựa chọn: phuket beach. Dalat, sydney.

You know, I’m planning to have a holiday. There 3 options: Sydney, Dalat
city or Phuket beach. In my opinion , travelling to Dalat city is my best
choice for the following reasons . The first reason is it’s not only beautiful
but also peaceful. The people living here are friendly and hardworking.
The second reason is I have a chance to visit many beautiful landscapes
such as Langbiang Mountain, Love vally and soon. I don’t choose
travelling to Sydney because it’s too far and I think going to Phu Ket beach
is really expensive. Therefore, I would prefer to choose travelling to Dalat
city.
Part 3:
1. Studying abroad

15
SET1: Studying abroad: language master, job opportunities,
Many people enunciate the idea that studying abroad has various merits, offering
numerous benefits such as language mastery, job progression, and personal
development. And I strongly agree with this statement for many reasons.
It is undeniable that studying overseas provides a fabulous opportunity to hone
language skills. From speaking with your host family and watching local TV shows
to ordering food at restaurants and even reading the advertising around town, every
interaction with the local culture will be adding new words to your vocabulary and
deeper your understanding of the language. Secondly, studying foreign countries is
more inclined to offer more advanced courses than those in their homeland,
allowing them to obtain international qualifications. In my opinion, studying
abroad is highly beneficial and can be a life-changing experience. It provides a one-
of-a-kind opportunity to not only gain academic knowledge but also develop
important life skills. Exposure to different cultures, languages, and ways of
thinking can broaden one's horizons strike up new relationships with people around
the world, and become a global citizen in the future promise.
1. What are the qualities of a good student?
There are many qualities to become a good student.
Firstly, a good student should be hard-working and friendly with both teachers and
friends at school.
Secondly, a good student should also be active in the community. I mean that she
or he should take part in many outdoor activities and try to help many people in our
life.
Moreover, they had better form and maintain good habits on a daily basis to
become a disciplined person.
Finally, I also believe that a good student should also be well-prepared for the
future and make sure that he can get a good job to support his life and his family
financially
2. Disadvantages of studying abroad?
It is undeniable studying overseas furnishes learners with numerous merits,
we could overlook the potential drawback behind it. Firstly, studying abroad
means that students have to live far away from their family and friends. In
fact, they may experience feelings of homesickness, loneliness, and isolation.
Secondly, they can face language barriers and culture shocks. To be more specific,
students find it hard to communicate with local people.

2. Parent as Teacher

16
I would like to talk about the significant role parents play as teachers in their
children's lives. First and foremost, parents play a crucial role as an
influential teacher in a child's life. From the early stages of childhood, parents
nurture and educate their offspring. They provide a foundation for learning,
teaching basic skills, and instilling values and morals that shape a child's
character.
Parents often sacrifice their personal time and resources to create the best
learning environment. They invest their energy and effort into helping with
homework, incentivizing reading books, and engaging in educational
activities. This active involvement enhances their children's academic
performance and overall development.
Parents also teach important life skills such as problem-solving,
communication, and resilience. They guide their children through challenges
and provide emotional support. The lessons learned from parents go beyond
textbooks and hope that their offspring become well-rounded individuals.
In my opinion, the role of parents as teachers is indispensable. Parents are
familiar with their children’s strengths and weaknesses and give the best
direction for their offspring to become a better version of themselves. The
deep love and concern parents spend with their children lay a strong
foundation for success, both academically and personally.
1. Do teachers sometimes teach things that are not important?
Teachers, like any professionals, may occasionally teach topics or concepts
that are less important or less relevant to students. This can happen due to
various reasons:
Each teacher has different perspectives and expertise. As a result, they may
prioritize and emphasize certain perspectives that align with their own
experiences or passions, which may not always be appropriate for all students.
Secondly, with the advent of cutting-edge technology, Educational systems
may not always keep up with the changing society. This can lead to adverse
consequences for teachers who can not update the new curriculum or teaching
materials, resulting in the transmission of out-of-date or less relevant content.

TELEVISION

17
Today, I stand before you to delve into a topic that has become increasingly
relevant in our digital age: "Television has destroyed communication among
friends and family." In an era dominated by screens and streams, it's crucial to
reflect upon the impact of television on our most cherished relationships.
Television, once a groundbreaking invention, has evolved into an integral part
of our lives. With the rise of streaming platforms, it's easier than ever to
immerse ourselves in captivating shows and movies. However, the allure of
the screen has drawn us away from the people who matter most.
2. Diminished Quality Time:
The excessive time spent in front of the television has led to a decline in
quality family time. Instead of engaging in conversations, sharing stories, and
creating memories, family members may find themselves isolated in their own
digital worlds. The communal experience of gathering around the TV has
transitioned into isolated viewing on personal devices.
3. Erosion of Meaningful Conversations:
Television's prevalence has eroded the art of conversation. Rather than
discussing our day, exchanging ideas, or sharing experiences, we might
default to discussing the latest TV series or celebrity gossip. These surface-
level interactions fail to nurture the depth of connections that true
conversations can bring.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, it's evident that television's pervasive presence has had a
significant impact on communication within families and among friends.
While it might not have entirely "destroyed" communication, it has certainly
reshaped it. The responsibility now falls upon us to strike a balance between
our digital lives and our real-world connections. Let's pledge to put down our
screens, engage in heart-to-heart conversations, and rebuild the bonds that
truly matter. Thank you.

BOOK
“It is said that 'Not everything learned is in books'":

18
Although books have long been our window into knowledge, they are only a
sketch of what learning actually entails. Let's explore the depth and breadth of
this concept together.
Books are certainly invaluable sources of information, but they are limited to
the words on the page. They capture established knowledge, theory, and
narrative. However, the world we live in is constantly evolving and learning
transcends the limits of traditional texts.
In my opinion, I strongly agree with this statement for the following reasons.
The first reason is e can learn by talking part in a lot of outdoor activities, so
we can learn from our experience with our friends. The second reason I want
to mention is we can learn from our teachers at school, tracgers will teach us
not onle academic lessons but also moral lessons. Finally, thanks to the
invention of the internet, we can have a chance to widen our knowledge of
any facets in life. Therefore, I think that apart from books, we can learn from
own experience, our teachers and the internet.
Conclusion:
Finally, the saying "Not everything you learn can be found in books" contains
a profound truth. While books lay a solid foundation, real learning is rooted in
life's experiences, challenges, and interactions. Let's cherish the wisdom
books offer while embracing the vast knowledge the world has to offer
beyond their limits. Let us be open to the lessons that life itself - in all its
richness - teaches us.
