Abstract
In the era of digital streaming, data visualization plays a crucial role in
understanding user engagement and content performance. This study
presents the development of an Amazon Prime Dashboard using Power BI,
aiming to provide comprehensive insights into subscriber trends, content
analysis, and revenue patterns. The dashboard integrates and visualizes
data related to user demographics, watch history, subscription growth, and
content popularity. By leveraging Power BI’s interactive charts, filters, and
drill-down capabilities, the dashboard enhances decision-making for
content recommendations and business strategies. The study highlights the
ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process, data modeling techniques, and
visualization methods employed in building the dashboard. The findings
demonstrate how business intelligence (BI) tools can optimize data-driven
decisions in the streaming industry, offering a scalable solution for
performance analysis. This research contributes to the field of data
analytics and visualization, showcasing the potential of Power BI in media
and entertainment analytics.
INTRODUCTION

In the digital age, data visualization plays a crucial role in understanding

user behavior and business performance. Amazon Prime, a leading
subscription-based streaming and e-commerce service, generates vast
amounts of data that require efficient analysis for better decision-making.
This research focuses on developing an Amazon Prime Dashboard using
Power BI, a powerful business intelligence tool that enables interactive and
real-time data visualization.
The primary objective of this mini-project is to create a comprehensive
dashboard that provides insights into subscription trends, user
engagement, revenue analysis, and content performance. Power BI’s robust
data modeling and visualization capabilities make it an ideal choice for
analyzing large datasets, identifying patterns, and presenting data in an
intuitive manner. By integrating multiple data sources, applying DAX
functions, and using dynamic filtering options, the dashboard aims to
deliver a data-driven approach for optimizing Amazon Prime services.
This research paper highlights the development process, key metrics, and
benefits of using Power BI for analyzing Amazon Prime data. The study
also emphasizes how dashboards enhance decision-making by providing
actionable insights, ultimately improving customer experience and business
strategies. The project serves as a practical implementation of data
analytics, bridging the gap between raw data and strategic decision-
making.

OBJECTIVE
The objective of this study is to develop an Amazon Prime Dashboard using
Power BI to analyze and visualize key performance metrics related to
content streaming, user engagement, and subscription trends. This project
aims to leverage data visualization techniques to provide insights into
watch time, genre popularity, regional preferences, and user demographics.
The research will focus on demonstrating the efficiency of Power BI's
interactive dashboards in enhancing decision-making for content strategy
and business growth within the streaming industry.

 To analyze Amazon Prime’s content library using interactive

visualizations.
 To categorize movies and TV shows based on genre, release year, and
ratings.
 To track regional availability and subscription trends over time.
 To compare user engagement metrics, including views and reviews.
 To integrate Power BI features like DAX functions, slicers, and drill-
through filters for deep insights.
 To identify patterns in content performance for data-driven decision-
making.
 To enhance report interactivity with dynamic KPIs, charts, and
dashboards.
 To assist content strategists in optimizing recommendations and
content placement.
 To provide a visually appealing and data-driven summary for
Amazon Prime’s streaming performance.

METHODOLOGY USED IN OUR SYSTEM

1. Data Collection
The dataset for the Amazon Prime dashboard was collected from various
sources, including publicly available data repositories, API extractions, and
web scraping techniques. The primary data sources included:
 Amazon Prime’s official dataset (if available)
 IMDb movie and TV show ratings
 User reviews and engagement statistics
 Subscription and regional availability data
2. Data Preprocessing
Before visualizing the data in Power BI, the following preprocessing steps
were carried out:
 Data Cleaning: Removing duplicates, handling missing values, and
standardizing formats.
 Data Transformation: Converting raw data into structured tables
suitable for Power BI.
 Data Integration: Merging multiple datasets to create a unified
dataset for analysis.
 Data Enrichment: Adding new calculated fields such as watch time
trends, popularity scores, and content ratings.
3. Database Management
The structured dataset was stored in SQL Server or Excel files, ensuring
compatibility with Power BI. Database management involved:
 Creating relational tables and establishing relationships.
 Indexing and optimizing queries for efficient data retrieval.
 Ensuring data integrity and security.
4. Dashboard Development in Power BI
Power BI was used to design an interactive and visually appealing
dashboard. The key steps included:
 Data Importing: Connecting Power BI to the cleaned dataset.
 Data Modeling: Defining relationships and hierarchies for better
analysis.
 Visualization Creation: Designing various visual elements such as:
o Bar charts for subscription trends.
o Pie charts for genre distribution.
o Line graphs for user engagement over time.
o Maps to display regional availability.
 DAX Calculations: Implementing Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)
to compute insights like total watch hours and average ratings.
 Filters and Slicers: Enabling dynamic filtering for user interaction.
5. Testing and Validation
To ensure the dashboard’s accuracy and usability, thorough testing was
conducted:

 Data Accuracy Testing: Verifying correctness of insights and

calculations.
 Performance Testing: Optimizing queries to improve loading times.
 User Testing: Gathering feedback to enhance usability and layout
design.
6. Deployment and Maintenance
Once finalized, the dashboard was deployed for access via Power BI
Service or Power BI Report Server. The maintenance process involved:
 Regular updates to reflect real-time data changes.
 Monitoring performance and optimizing queries.
 Incorporating new user feedback for improvements.
This methodology ensures that the Amazon Prime Dashboard built using
Power BI is comprehensive, insightful, and user-friendly, providing
valuable analytics for decision-making and content evaluation.

REPORT AND INSIGHT

Total Content: The platform has 9,651 titles, consisting of both movies and
TV shows.
Content Types: Around 80.82% of the content is TV shows, while only
19.18% are movies.
