Importance of Skills
These skills are important for the following reasons:

• The HIM is a quick and easy way to view faults/alarms and

view/change parameters without a laptop.
• When a drive fails, the HIM can be used to copy the parameters of the
old drive over to the replacement.

What is a HIM?

20-HIM-A6
A Human Interface Module (HIM) provides a communication
interface to configure and monitor drives.

• In this class, we will use the 20-HIM-A6 to communicate LCD Display

with the PowerFlex 755 AC drive and its connected
peripherals.
• These HIMs are also backward compatible with all
PowerFlex 7-Class drives, but with limited functionality.

backup or to be downloaded into another drive’s memory.

• Navigate to the MEMORY folder on the Port of the device

whose parameter set you want to copy.
• Select HIM CopyCat.
• Select CopyCat from Device to HIM.
• CopyCat from Device to HIM: uploads parameter set
from the device into the HIM’s memory
• CopyCat from HIM to Device: downloads saved
parameter set to the device
• Choose to overwrite an existing file or create a new file.

Question

Why is it important to have a saved CopyCat file

of the drive and its peripherals?

a) If a drive fails, the CopyCat file can be used to download the

parameters of an old drive to the new drive.
b) If a duplicate line is installed, the CopyCat file can be used to
set up the new drive up exactly the same as the existing line.
c) If drive parameters are changed, the CopyCat file can revert
the drive back to a last known good saved state.
d) All of the above.
