COURSE ACTIVITIES
Objectives :
In this experiment, we learned several techniques that turn off the SCR,which are based on
the principle of reducing the current passing through the SCR to less than the value of the
current. (Ih) is a low valuecurrent that has no ability to turn on the SCR.
Methodology:
We conducted this experiment in two stages. In the first stage, we simulated two electrical
circuits shown in the first and second figures to learn how to turn off the SCR manually
through switches, as well as to monitor the load while turning the switches on and off.
In the second stage, we simulated several electrical circuits, whereeach circuit contains a
different technology for turning off the SCR, as shown in the figures (3,5,8)
COURSE ACTIVITIES
Result :
A. SCR Commutation using Anode Current Interruption:
Approach 1:
COURSE ACTIVITIES
When the first switch is turned on alone, the bulb does not light. Likewise, when the second
switch is turned on alone, but when they are turned on together, the bulb lights up.
Approach 2:
When the first switch is turned on, the bulb lights up, and when the second switch is turned
on, the bulb lights up.

Conclusion
It has been concluded that thyristors can be turned off manually through switches or through
electronic filters, by reducing the thyristor current until its value is less than the holding
current.
