Job Description – Network Records- Planner

Project: UK Based Fibre Network Service Provider

Role: Fibre Network Digitization Team Member (U1 Band)

Reports to: Team Lead

Roles Involved: Network Digitization, Network Records

Scope of Work, Roles & Responsibility:

Digitally record the physical network inventories across the country including Duct, Poles, Copper &
Fibre cables meeting the Offcom regulations

 Migrating all relevant company data into the database establishing a build pipeline process
within the GIS
 Owning, executing and delivering planning requirements within a geographic region
 Meeting design specification for civils and fiber build.
 Good understanding of build disciplines, detailed network plans with work point instructions.
 Flexible approach in dealing with amendments to planned information
 Ensuring accurate completion of all planned submissions and work is completed on time
 Become proficient to highlight and escalate major design variances

Skillset Required:

 Bachelor’s degree in science & engineering background is mandatory – No arts & medical
graduates
 Good comprehension and written communication. Fair verbal communication skills
 Candidates will be assessed on the below
o Knowledge on basic telecom (What is Copper, Fibre, differences, Ethernet, advantages,
etc.) This will be at a very basic level
o Logical thinking & decision making. This is to understand the candidate’s ability to
capture the training.
 To work on GIS systems and need to be good at data analysis
 Ability to grasp telecom planning knowledge out to the homes, current telco access network
topologies
 Ability to draw together different telecom technical disciplines
 Able to communicate with people across multiple locations and at different levels
 Knowledge of Microsoft Office and being PC literate - MS Word, Excel (Power Query)
 Knowledge GIS Tools would be an added advantage
 Access Network Planning experience (FTTx) would be an added advantage
 Flexibility to work in rotational shifts & UK hours. Shift can also be an 18 X 7 support
Other Requirements:

 Shortlisted candidates will go through a Background verification process that covers some of the
points below
o No backlogs in graduation at the time of joining
o Candidates with prior experience should have withdrawn salary only via Bank Account.
Cash in hand will be rejected in BGV
o All educational & previous work documents will be 100% mandatory to clear BGV
 Shortlisted candidates will go through a common minimal programme to understand telecom
concepts before the process training
 Evaluations will be done during & post training as a selection criteria before graduating to live
project.
