ASSESSMENT SIX - MODERATED TASK: Film poster analysis

To be completed: Term 3, Week 6 THURSDAY

Task:
Under timed conditions, students will complete two short answer responses to one unseen film poster
(from a choice of two). Students will consider how the poster uses multimodal language and marketing
techniques to communicate ideas and attract a particular audience.

Syllabus Content:

 Explore and explain the combinations of language and visual choices (ACELY1745).
 Analyse and explain the use of symbols, icons and myth in still and moving images and how these
augment meaning (ACELA1560).

Conditions:
 Students respond to two questions on one unseen film poster (from a choice of two) in the form of two
short answer responses
 5 minutes to annotate and plan
 50 minutes writing time
 No notes permitted

1. Explain how the poster uses visual and written language to convince a specific audience to view the
film.
