Project: Short Story Writing

Phase 1

Directions: In the first phase, you will be brainstorming and outlining your original short story. You may
take inspiration from real-life events, people and things around you, and other stories. Take extra care
to make sure that your idea is original and not copied from someone else.

PART A: BRAINSTORMING (5 marks)

Give a rough description of your story idea. Make sure the idea is original. You can brainstorm in any way
you want (bullet points, illustrations etc.). This should include your basic idea, the names of main
characters, names of the events that will take place etc. It should give an overall idea of your story.
Story starts in a pleasant day of July. When I was walking through street of my City and saw a
stranger who looked oddly familiar to me. He passed right through me and left me in confusion. I
followed him out of curiosity that who was he. I followed him for about 15 mins. He went into a
Butcher Shop and I followed him. Suddenly a man catches me from behind asking that what was I
doing here. I barely escaped from that place. Next day I tried to go back to that Butcher shop, I
reached so close that I was getting really frightened. I walked in the Shop from a backdoor and I saw
piles of sacks and blood everywhere. I know it was a butcher shop but that was a lot of blood to
justify and the sacks had something metallic in them. I ran to nearest police station to report them
and officers agreed to come with me and search the shops. Police investigated and found out that sack
contained empty Tins which the butcher also sold. I felt dumb at the moment for thinking such a
thing. Police asked me to apologize as I made a fake allegation. Police went away and I was left alone
in the shop when suddenly my arm touched the sack of cans and a few of them dropped on the floor I
heard a weird noise when it hit the floor I took the shovel which was lying in corner and I found a
dead girl who was missing for a week. We studied in the same school and On the night when she
disappeared I saw this man there too. The Butcher came in the room and said me that “game is over
child time to go to your friend”. I was lucky I had a shovel that I bumped into his feet and ran
outside. Luckily Policeman returned as he left his car keys in shop and finds the Butchers reality
when he was about to kill me. He gets Death sentence and I get award for my bravery.
