Notebook Checking Guidelines

1. Teachers will check notebooks carefully and thoroughly.


2. If there are mistakes in a student's notebook, it is the responsibility of the subject teacher
to underline these mistakes and rewrite them in neat handwriting.
3. Guide students to complete their work carefully and attentively.
4. English notebooks will be checked from the left side of the page, and Urdu notebooks will
be checked from the right side.
5. Teachers must check notebooks on a daily basis.
6. The teacher's signature and date should be mentioned at the end of the checked notebook.
7. Teachers will check classwork within two days.
8. Notebook checking is prohibited in the classroom during lessons.
9. While students are doing classwork, the teacher must move around the classroom to
monitor their progress.
10. Underline mistakes and rewrite them. Make corrections on the next page.
11. The class assignment and date must be mentioned at the top of each page.
12. Ensure that all the question-answers for the phase are properly attempted by students and
checked by the teacher.
13. Ensure that all mistakes are underlined in the notebook during checking.
14. Ensure proper formatting, including margins, page numbers, and headings.
15. Use a red pen for marking and corrections to maintain uniformity.
16. Encourage students to maintain neat and legible handwriting.
17. Teachers should provide brief comments or feedback to help students improve.
18. If a student repeatedly makes the same mistakes, discuss them individually.
19. Encourage students to self-check their work before submission.
20. Assign a specific time slot for notebook checking outside of teaching hours.
21. Maintain a record of students' notebook progress for evaluation.
22. If a notebook is incomplete, inform the student and follow up for completion.
23. Ensure corrections are made in students’ handwriting, not by the teacher.
24. Cross out blank spaces or pages to avoid misuse.
25. Ensure diagrams and tables are drawn correctly with proper labeling.

Notebook Rechecking Guidelines

1. After the subject teacher checks the notebook, it will be rechecked by the coordinator.
2. The teacher will check the notebook with a red pen, while the coordinator will recheck it
with a Purple pen.
3. The rechecker will review the index, title pages, handwriting, margins, formatting, and
overall content.
4. If any topic is missing in the notebook, the rechecker will note it down in the notebook and
inform the subject teacher immediately.
5. The rechecker must sign and mention the date at the end of the rechecking process.
6. The rechecker must carefully review the quality of work to ensure neatness, organization,
and accuracy.
7. English notebooks should be checked from the left side of the page, while Urdu notebooks
should be checked from the right side.
8. If a student has repeated mistakes, the rechecker should ensure that the teacher has guided
them properly.
9. If corrections are not made properly, the rechecker should return the notebook for further
improvement.
10. Diagrams, tables, and maps should be checked for proper labeling and accuracy.
11. Ensure that classwork, homework, and assessments are checked and signed by the teacher.
12. Verify that all pages are in sequence, without missing or torn pages.
13. Ensure that question numbers and answers are correctly written according to the syllabus.
14. Rechecking should be done at least once a Phase , and any major concerns should be
documented.
15. If the student’s handwriting is consistently untidy, the rechecker should instruct the teacher
to focus on improvement.
16. Corrections should be done by students in their own handwriting, not by the teacher.
17. Recheckers should ensure that teachers have added comments or remarks where necessary.
18. If necessary, the coordinator should discuss notebook issues in meetings with subject
teachers for improvement.
19. Rechecking should be done at least once a Phase and any major concerns should be
documented.
