Analog System Design [ELE2221]

Electrical And Electronics Department
Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal
PART-A
QA1 Design a square wave generator using an operational amplifier (op-amp) with
a frequency of 1 kHz. Assume the capacitor value is 0.01 µF. Draw the final
schematic and verify the results through appropriate simulations.
QA2 Design an OPAMP based circuit to generate kHz, 6Vp-p saw tooth wave shown in
Figure QA2. Assume the involved capacitance to be 0.01µFm, Ton=0.7ms and
Toff=0.3ms. Verify the design through appropriate simulations.

QA3 Draw a 555 astable multivibrator circuit and assuming 𝐶 = 0.01𝜇𝐹; 𝑅1 =

10𝑘Ω and 𝑅2 = 50𝑘Ω determine through suitable calculations the operating
frequency and its duty cycle.
Simulate designed circuit and check the output and justify the results for the
following case
1. If the pin4 is connected to ground.
2. A voltage 4V source connected between the pin 5 and pin1 and pin4 is
connected to 5V
Hint: frequency = 1.31 kHz and D = 54.54%

QA4 Draw a 555 astable MV circuit and assuming 𝐶 = 0.01𝜇𝐹; 𝑅1 = 22𝑘Ω and
R2=39kΩ determine through suitable calculations the width of the positive
pulse. Suggest the suitable circuit modification to obtain 50% duty cycle. Verify
your result with the help LT Spice simulation
Hint: Ton = 0.423 ms
QA5 Design a 555-timer circuit to generate the following wave forms

Hint: use two 555 timers A stable MV and reset the second timer using the
first 555 timer. Assume capacitance C=-0.1uF
PART-B
QB1 Design an op-amp circuit to generate a 5KHz saw tooth waveform. Explain how
this circuit is different than the symmetric triangular waveform generating op-
amp circuit.
QB2 Design a monostable multivibrator circuit to generate 50% duty cycle 10kHz
square wave. Assume the capacitance C=0.1µF and Diode on resistance
Ron=100Ω. Verify your design using LT spice simulation.
QB3 Design an Op-amp based circuit to generate 10kHz triangular and square wave
form. Explain how it will start without any trigger input? The peak amplitude of
triangular waveform is ±4V and VDD=+12V Vss=-12V. Assume the capacitor
C=0.01µF.
QB4 With a neat circuit the wave form explains the working and design procedure of
555 time based astable multi vibrator.
QB5 With a neat circuit schematic explain the sample and hold circuit. Also
mention the use of sample and hold circuits.
