Ms –power point is a program that is included in the Microsoft office suite. It is used to make
presentation for personal and professional purpose.
Power point (PPT) is a powerful, easy to use presentation graphics software program that
allows you to create professional looking electronic slide shows.
Uses of power point presentations:
1. Presentations: the primary purpose of power point is to create and deliver presentations. It
allows users to organize content into slides making information visually appealing and easy to
understand during meeting, conferences or lectures.
2. Educational materials: teachers and educators use power point to create engaging lesson plans.
Educational material and interactive presentations for students. It helps in enhancing the learning
experience.

extremely satisfying presentation to get the desired results. It allows the creation of presentation
which can be a collection of slides, speaker’s notes, handout or media clips providing everything
one needs to communicate clearly to others.
1. Home: the home tab holds the cut and paste features, font and paragraph options and what
you need to add and organize slides.
2. Insert: click insert to add something to a slide. This includes pictures shapes, charts, links
text boxes video and more.
3. Design: on the design tab you can add a theme or colour scheme or format the slide
background.
4. Transitions: set up how your slides change from one to the next on the transition tab. Find
a gallery of the possible transition in the to this slide group- click more button at the side of
the gallery to see all of them.
5. Animations: use the animations tab to choreograph the movement of things on your slides.
Note that you can see many possible animations on the gallery in the animation group and
see more of them by clicking more.
6. Slide show: on the slide show tab, set up the way that you want to show your presentation
to others.
7. Review: the review tab lets you add comments run spell check or compare one presentation
with another (Such as an earlier version).
8. View: views allow you to look at your presentation in different ways, depending on where
you are in the creation or delivery process.
9. File: at one end of the ribbon is the file tab. Which you use for the behind the scenes stuff
you do with a file, such as opening, saving sharing exporting printing and managing your
presentation.
10. Tools tabs: when you click some parts of your slides such as pictures shapes, smart art or
textboxes, you might see a colourful new tab appear.

Changing colour scheme:
One of the most common tools used to customize the look and feel of a presentation is the theme
colour feature allows users to easily changes the colours of their slides to match the overall theme

2. Select colour then however the mouse over the different theme colours to see a live
preview.
3. Select the desired theme colours.

To customize theme colour: sometimes you might not like every colour include in a set of theme
colour. It’s easy to change some or all of the colours to suit your needs.
1. From the design tab, click the drop down arrow in the variants group.
2. Select colours then click customize colours
3. A dialog box will appear with the 12 current theme colours. To edit a colour, click the drop
down arrow and select a different colour. You may need to click more colour to find the
exact colour you want.
4. In the name: field, type the desired name for the theme colours then click save.

access to a choice of colours.

Slide transitions are motion effects that happen when we are in slide show view, and when we
move from one slide to the Next slide during the presentation. We can control the speed of these

Custom animation: custom animation in power point refers to that user can apply or give effects to
any object, text and pictures used in the slide. What is the difference between transition and custom
animation? In slide transition, you can give effect to the whole slide, not any particular object,
picture, text used in the slide. However, with custom animation we can give the effects to any
object/text/Picture used in the slide.
