Attention Deficit Hyperactivity

Disorder (ADHD)

Is your child having trouble paying attention? Is your child hyperactive? is your
child having trouble remembering things?

Your child might be having Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) .

ADHD is the most common behavioral and neurodevelopmental disorder


among children below the age of 12 years. And it is common in boys than girls

The cause for ADHD is unknown,but researchers say it might be due to


genetics,

● premature births,
● low birth weight,
● environment,
● maternal usage of alcohol, drugs, and smoking during
pregnancy,
● or problems with the central nervous system
SYMTOMPS : with ADHD mostly

● daydream,
● have an inability to focus on a particular work,
● might fidget and talk a lot,
● Make careless mistakes,
● and have trouble mingling with other kids of their age.
● They struggle with academics,
● Tend to face more injuries than other kids,
● have low self esteem and
● tend to have an increased risk of usage of alcohol, drugs and
smoking.
Along with ADHD some kids might also have ( COMORBIDITIES) :
● Anxiety and Mood Disorders
● Learning Disabilities
● Conduct Disorder
● Substance Use Disorder

If you are concerned that your child has ADHD, refer to a Child
psychologist or Child Psychiatrist, Developmental /Behavioural
Pediatrician or Pediatric Neurologist.

ADHD can be prevented by

● Avoiding drug, alcohol intake during pregnancy


● Avoid contact of lead and harmful chemicals to the baby
● ADHD can be controlled to a little extent with behavioral
therapy and medicines.
● Consuming more vegetables, and fruits.
● Participating in more physical activities and
● getting a good amount of sleep and
● limiting screen time might help.

But kids with ADHD are Creative, Passionate, Lovable, Generous, Smart,
and think OUT-OF -THE BOX.

ADHD is a battle for self-confidence. It is a war between brain and body. It


is a fight to maintain focus and trying to be like others.

ADHD kids are DIFFERENT but SPECIAL
