Slides Chapter 5

Chapter 3 discusses elementary functions, defining a function as a relation between a domain and a range, typically expressed as 'f(x)'. It covers various types of functions including quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions. The chapter includes references to educational materials from Barnett, Ziegler, and Byleen's textbook.

Chapter 3: Elementary Functions:

Graphs and Transformations

A function is a relation for which each value from the first set is associated with exactly one
value from the second set. The first set is called the domain.
The second set is called the range.
It is usually written as "f(x)" where x is the input value.
