Chapter 1 Introduction

The document introduces Macromedia Flash, specifically version 8, highlighting its use of vector graphics which allows for scalable images without loss of quality. It explains the difference between project files (.fla) and film producer files (.swf), as well as the program's interface, including its menu bar, layers, timeline, toolbox, and stage. Additionally, it outlines the steps to create a new Flash document and access document properties.

Introduction

The first version of the Flash program called Future Splash was bought by
Macromedia in 1997 and changed its name to Macromedia Flash.

The Flash in the forefront of development of Web applications these days, which
develops itself with each new version. We are here to begin to learn the latest version
of the program is Macromedia Flash 8 which comes after the previous version
Macromedia Flash MX

The Flash is a software-based on the Vector Graphics, to makes it clear we say….

Graphics forms are divided into two types:

1-Bitmap Images or graphics raster, also called Raster Images which consists of a
network of small squares Pixels every square have a fixed place and the degree of
color fixed as the total number of boxes to be constant, so when you change the
volume of work zoom it loses a large part of its clarity and accuracy, This type of
images shows an acceptable degree of varying colors and shades, falls under this
.section of photos and designs produced by Photoshop or other coloring programs.

2-Vector Graphics, vector graphics or radial, which consists of lines and curves
defined manner mathematical shapes called Vectors, and describe the vector drawing
and according to geometric figures. The vector graphics can be displayed in any size
zoom out or zoom without affecting the quality and degree of clarity, when zooming
the mathematical formula will be adjusted simply and the image is displayed clearly
in the same proportion to the dimensions of the original image.

 As result to using the vector Graphics in Macromedia flash , it will offers

relatively small files for internet, instead of moving the many pixels from
point 1 to point 2,the mathematical formula will be adjusted simply, and thus
shape moves smoothly and effectively.

Advantages of using Flash :

1- Based on Vector graphic.

2- Animation.
3- Interactively.

Flash files :
There are two important files we will deal with them in Flash :

1- The construction of the project file for the production of the film and this
file extension fla This file can not be opened or adjustment only by Flash
.himself

2- A film producer file that run by Flash Player, or by browser such as

Internet Explorer and this file extension swf which is an abbreviation for
Shockwave Format or Small Web Format

See the image below for the difference between the form of two files:

To save a file with fla format, use known way to save in any program:
File> save as
Or
File> save

To convert the file to final film in swf format that can run on Flash player or
on the pages of the net, go to the list
File > Export >Export Movie

The program interface

Consisting of three columns:

1-The left column shows you recent files that have been created and handled
and notes when click to open it shows this files on the hard disk.

2-East column contains a list of files that can be created flash program and
will be the first choice is used in this course .

3-The right column which contains templates in the program and you
can choose one of them .

Steps to follow :

select (Flash Document) from previous window

Or

File> new > Flash Document

Then press OK

menu bar
Like any program, it contains a menu bar which you can reach the special jobs
for the program is located at the top of the program.

Documents Tap
Shows the work names that open at the same time to facilitate movement
between them.

Layers
It uses to separate classes work items from each other making it easier to
handle and the modulation, is necessary for the movement and be arranged
vertically of the order of the elements in the stage .

TimeLine
Time line consists of rows of small rectangles called Frame which is the basis
of the movement in flash which allow the identification of state elements from
one place, rotation, and transparency and a lot....

Tool Box
Contains all the tools coloring and fees that are used to establish the elements
of stage work.

Panels
They contain additional windows and control functions.

Stage
Stage work and he shall be white in the middle of the program and determine
the actual space of the film and where items are displayed.
