GUIDELINES FOR QUESTION PAPER SETTERS


Sir/Madam,
1. The appointment and the correspondence should be treated strictly confidential.
2. All questions should be neatly and legibly typed (in MS Word). The font shall be Times New Roman of
font size 12.
3. The question paper setter should give a certificate stating that the typing was done by him / her and
must ensureconfidentiality. [A format is attached]
4. The details of examination such as the regulations, programme, branch, semester, subject code and name,
duration and maximum marks must be clearly given in the question paper.
5. All figures must be neatly drawn and fixed in the appropriate place in the question paper with necessary
Figure number (Question Number only).
6. Questions set in one part (Part - A) should not be repeated in other parts (Part - B or Part - C) of the
questionpaper.
7. Information regarding tables, charts, drawing sheets, graph paper, code books etc., to be supplied to the
candidates should be mentioned along with other instructions.
8. Type of Data Book requirements and its version should be mentioned in the TOP of the question paper.
9. SI units must be adopted. Mathematical symbols and index figures should be clearly delineated.
10. It is necessary that the question paper should be of the same pattern and standard as stipulated and must
confine to the syllabus and books prescribed.
11. No Sub-division in Part-A, Maximum two subdivisions in Part-B and Part-C. Marks for the sub-divisions in
Part-B and Part-C should be equally distributed.
12. Questions should not be ambiguous, and / or out of syllabus and it could be able to be answered by
an average student within 2 Hours and 50 Minutes and 10 Minutes may be allotted for reading the question
paper.
13. The question paper should be set in accordance with Bloom’s Taxonomy (as in the attachment). The same
knowledge level of questions should be asked in both either and or questions even if the questions have sub-
division.
14. The knowledge level (Category A/B/C) should be mentioned against each question.
15. The UG level question paper may contain questions to test all the knowledge levels. 50% of
questions shall be prepared to test the base level competencies (Remembering and Understanding (A)) of
students. 20 to 25% of questions shall be prepared to test the medium level competencies (Applying and
Analyzing (B)) of students. Remaining questions shall be prepared to test the highest level of
competencies (Evaluating and Creating (C)) of students.
16. The questions should be equally distributed covering the whole syllabus in each unit and not concentrated
on any one or a few portions only.

17. The answer key can be a brief with necessary diagrams and calculations (Maximum of 5 pages). The cut off
marks should be clearly mentioned against each sub-division questions.
18. Remuneration for setting the question paper is Rs.1500/- and for preparing the answer key is Rs. 1500/-.
19. QP setters remuneration will be transferred through online and hence requested to send the BANK/IFSC
Code/Branch details. etc., along with Question papers and key/
