heavy rain and a wind due to a minor storm. Next morning, both of the 15 C 40 A 65 D 90 D 115 B 140 D

damaged at all and were standing firm.

The insurance agent neighbor was surprised to see it, he went to the 20 B 45 C 70 C 95 B 120 A 145 A
retired teacher and asked, “We both grew the same plants together, I 21 A 46 A 71 B 96 A 121 D 146 B
actually looked after my plants better than you did for yours, and even gave
22 D 47 A 72 A 97 D 122 D 147 D
them more water. Still, my plants came off from the roots, while yours
didn't. How is that possible?” 23 D 48 B 73 C 98 D 123 A 148 D

24 A 49 C 74 A 99 A 124 B 149 B
The retired teacher smiled and said, “You gave your plants more attention

and water, but because of that they didn't need to work themselves for it.
You made it easy for them. While I gave them just an adequate amount of
water and let their roots search for more. And, because of that, their roots
went deeper and that made their position stronger. That is why my plants
survived”.

In 1938, Karoly Takacs of the Hungarian army was the top pistol shooter
in the world. He was expected to win the gold in the 1940 Olympic 2 D 19 C 36 B 52 A 69 B 86 C 102 D 119 C 136 A
Games scheduled at Tokyo, Japan. Just months before the Olympics, a
hand grenade exploded in Takacs’ right hand, and his hand was blown

off. Takacs spent a month in the hospital depressed at both the loss of 4 A 21 A 38 B 54 D 71 A 88 B 104 B 121 A 138 B
his hand, and the end to his Olympic dream.
5 B 22 D 39 B 55 A 72 A 89 A 105 A 122 D 139 A
At that point most people would have quit but not Takacs. Takacs did
the unthinkable; he decided to learn how to shoot with his left hand! 6 D 23 C 40 C 56 C 73 C 90 D 106 D 123 C 140 D
Instead of focusing on what he didn’t have – a world class right shooting 7 B 24 B 41 A 57 B 74 D 91 C 107 B 124 B 141 A

Takacs practiced by himself.
9 C 26 B 43 D 59 C 76 D 93 A 109 A 126 D 143 D
In the spring of 1939 he showed up at the Hungarian national pistol

watch them shoot. They were surprised when he competed and were 11 B 28 D 45 B 61 B 78 B 95 C 111 A 128 D 145 A
even more surprised when he won!

The 1940 and 1944 Olympics were cancelled due to World War II. But
Takacs kept training. In the 1948 London Olympics, at the age of 38, he

Takacs had a right to feel sorry for himself, to stay down and to ask 16 A 33 B 50 C 66 B 83 A 100 C 116 D 133 B 150 B
himself “why me?” for the rest of his life. But Takacs made the decision 17 B 34 B 67 B 84 B 117 B 134 D
to pick himself up and to learn to shoot all over again. Next time we get
knocked down, let us decide to act like Takacs. Let us get up quickly, take
action, and surprise the world!
