Have you ever wondered if small actions can really make a difference in
achieving big global goals? Today, I’m here to show you that they
absolutely can. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, or
SDGs, are a blueprint for a better and more sustainable world. But what
might surprise you is that these goals aren’t just for governments or large
organizations. They are for all of us, and it’s the small actions—like those
we take every day—that can truly drive change.
[SDG 1: No Poverty]
Let’s start with SDG 1—No Poverty. At our school, we don’t just focus on
academics but we also believe in kindness and empathy. To help reduce
poverty in our community, our school organized a donation drive such as
Joy of Giving week where we were encouraged to give items like old or
new clothes, toys, and shawls to our cleaning staff and their families.
These small gestures may seem simple, but they go a long way in showing
respect and appreciation for those who often go unnoticed. By giving
back, we create a community where everyone feels valued and cared for.
Now, let’s talk about SDG 3—Good Health and Well-being. Health is
something we often take for granted, but it’s the foundation of everything
we do. As health is the important aspect of life, at Laxmi International
School, we have a sick bay where students who are injured or feeling
unwell receive immediate care. Whether it’s for a headache, cold, or
something more serious, our sick bay ensures that no one is left without
any treatment when they need it most.
So, I leave you with this thought: Every action counts. Whether it’s
donating a used item, planting a tree, or helping a friend, we all have the
power to make a difference. My school is doing its part, but it’s up to all of
us—no matter where we are or how old we are—to take action. Start
small, act with purpose, and together, we can create the future we want
to see.
Thank you.
