[Introduction]

Good [morning/afternoon], everyone.

Have you ever wondered if small actions can really make a difference in
achieving big global goals? Today, I’m here to show you that they
absolutely can. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, or
SDGs, are a blueprint for a better and more sustainable world. But what
might surprise you is that these goals aren’t just for governments or large
organizations. They are for all of us, and it’s the small actions—like those
we take every day—that can truly drive change.

Today, I’ll be sharing how my school, Laxmi International School is

contributing to these goals, proving that every step we take, no matter
how small, plays a part in building a better future.

[SDG 1: No Poverty]

Let’s start with SDG 1—No Poverty. At our school, we don’t just focus on
academics but we also believe in kindness and empathy. To help reduce
poverty in our community, our school organized a donation drive such as
Joy of Giving week where we were encouraged to give items like old or
new clothes, toys, and shawls to our cleaning staff and their families.
These small gestures may seem simple, but they go a long way in showing
respect and appreciation for those who often go unnoticed. By giving
back, we create a community where everyone feels valued and cared for.

[SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being]

Now, let’s talk about SDG 3—Good Health and Well-being. Health is
something we often take for granted, but it’s the foundation of everything
we do. As health is the important aspect of life, at Laxmi International
School, we have a sick bay where students who are injured or feeling
unwell receive immediate care. Whether it’s for a headache, cold, or
something more serious, our sick bay ensures that no one is left without
any treatment when they need it most.

But it doesn’t stop there. We also hosted self-defense seminars to help

girls feel safe in an unpredictable world. These seminars taught us
essential skills that empower us to protect ourselves. And, we were
educated about important topics like good touch and bad touch, raising
awareness about personal boundaries and safety. These actions are
helping to create an environment where everyone, regardless of gender,
can thrive and feel safe.

[SDG 4: Quality Education]

Next up is SDG 4—Quality Education. Education is the key to building a

better future, and at Laxmi International School, we focus on providing a
holistic education. Our school goes beyond textbooks to encourage
curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity. We host science and innovation
exhibitions, where students showcase their projects and inventions.
These exhibitions aren’t just about science—they’re about fostering a
spirit of innovation and problem-solving that can address real-world
issues and that increase among the students.

In addition, we have several clubs—like public speaking, math, science,

and photography—where students can pursue their passions and build
valuable skills. These opportunities help us to grow as individuals,
equipping us to contribute meaningfully to society. Education is not just
about learning from books; it’s about learning to make a difference.

[SDG 13: Climate Action]

Let’s move on to SDG 13—Climate Action, which is a goal we can’t afford

to ignore. Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time,
and my school is actively working towards a greener future. We promote
tree planting as a way to give back to the planet, and our campus is filled
with plants and trees that help clean the air and create a healthier
environment.

But it doesn’t stop there. We’re also taught to conserve natural

resources—whether it’s through recycling, reducing water usage, or
finding creative ways to repurpose materials. These actions may seem
small, but they add up. By teaching us to care for the environment, our
school is shaping us into responsible global citizens who understand the
importance of sustainable living.

[SDG 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions]

Moving on to SDG 16—Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, Laxmi

International School promotes a culture of respect and safety. One of the
ways we do this is through the anti-bullying boxes around the school,
where students can report bullying incidents anonymously. This initiative
ensures that every student’s voice is heard, and it creates a safe space
for students to learn and grow without fear.

We also have the Plant a Smile program, which encourages us to make

someone else’s day brighter through small, thoughtful actions. Whether
it’s a smile, a kind word, or helping someone in need, these little
moments of kindness contribute to a peaceful and positive school
environment.

[SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals]

Lastly, I want to highlight SDG 17—Partnerships for the Goals. Our

school’s trust—Gajera Trust—is a great example of how collaboration can
lead to impactful change. Gajera Trust runs Vatsalya Dham, an orphanage
that educates hundreds of children, providing them with the
opportunities they deserve. This partnership between the school and the
community shows how working together can create lasting change.
In addition, Gajera Trust also provides affordable healthcare, ensuring
that no one is left behind, regardless of their financial situation. These
efforts align perfectly with the SDGs, showing us that through
collaboration, we can build a better world for all.

[Conclusion: Call to Action]

So, I leave you with this thought: Every action counts. Whether it’s
donating a used item, planting a tree, or helping a friend, we all have the
power to make a difference. My school is doing its part, but it’s up to all of
us—no matter where we are or how old we are—to take action. Start
small, act with purpose, and together, we can create the future we want
to see.

Thank you.
