 per phase. Assume the voltage sources are configured in positive sequence.
(a) Convert the system into the corresponding Y-Y system. Draw the circuit diagrams for both ∆-∆

Question 5 (Optional)
A 250 V series DC motor rotates with speed of 1600 r/min at no load condition when the current is
80 A. It has a field resistance of 0.5 , an armature resistance of 0.8  and a brush drop of 4 V.
Assume the flux is proportional to the current.
(a) Find the induced emf Eb at no load.
(b) Find the speed of the motor in rotation per minute when the input current is 60 A and the supply
voltage is 180 V.
