Fusion Innovator Design Challenge 2025

Project Report: AI-Integrated Solar Mobility Pod

1. Introduction

In response to the growing urban challenges of traffic congestion, pollution, and

inaccessibility, our team presents a
sustainable solution under the Fusion Innovator Design Challenge 2025 theme, “Innovating
Mobility for a Greener Tomorrow.”
We introduce a compact, solar-powered, AI-driven Mobility Pod designed for traffic control
and inclusive mobility.
This two-wheeler pod features a self-balancing mechanism, autonomous navigation, and is
optimized for differently-abled users.
Built with Carbon Fiber Composite (CFC) materials, it incorporates Industry 4.0
technologies for smart route optimization,
real-time diagnostics, and energy management.

2. Problem Statement Alignment

Modern cities face critical issues such as traffic congestion, carbon emissions, poor
accessibility, parking shortages,
and unaffordable transport. Our Mobility Pod addresses all these by offering:
- Zero-emission solar-electric propulsion
- Self-balancing mechanism for compact maneuverability and minimal parking footprint
- AI-enabled autonomous navigation for traffic control and smart routing
- Accessibility features for elderly and differently-abled individuals
- Low operational and maintenance costs

3. Design Considerations and Features

- Seating Capacity: 2–4 passengers, with a load capacity of 300 kg

- Power: Solar panels and electric drive
- AI & IoT: For navigation, collision avoidance, route planning, and maintenance alerts
- Smart Features: Self-balancing, vehicle tracking, remote access, and diagnostics
- Accessibility: Auto-extending ramp, voice control, ergonomic seating
- Materials: Lightweight Carbon Fiber Composite (CFC) structure
- Dimensions: Within 300 cm (L) × 150 cm (W) × 200 cm (H)
4. Heat and Mass Transfer Integration

To ensure thermal comfort and sustainability:

- Integrated microchannel systems in the pod shell provide passive cooling.
- Heat Transfer Simulations show internal temperatures remain within 3°C of external
ambient temperatures.
- Mass Transfer: CO2 and O2 levels balanced using nano-fabric diffusive membranes to
ensure breathable air in enclosed spaces.
- These thermal mechanisms reduce HVAC load, improve comfort, and increase energy
efficiency.

5. CAD Model and Simulation

- Software: Autodesk Fusion 360

- The pod’s frame, outer shell, and internal layout were modeled and simulated to evaluate
structural stability, thermal control, and component placement.
- Structural simulations confirmed load-bearing capacity above 800 kg.
- Generative Design was applied to optimize weight and airflow for key internal
components.

6. Advantages and Challenges

Advantages:
- Zero emissions and low running costs
- Inclusive, safe, and autonomous
- Compact and easy to park
- Renewable energy-powered

Challenges:
- Manufacturing complexity of CFC materials
- Dependence on solar availability for long trips
- Initial infrastructure requirement for smart city integration
