Here are 5 steps to help you prepare for your upcoming interview.

1. Dress Appropriately

• Dress in clean, appropriate attire like polos, blouses, button-ups, neat t-


shirts, and sweaters
• If you are interviewing for a kitchen position, chef coats are appropriate
• Avoid wearing clothing that is unkempt, stained, ripped, strapless, or
excessively low-cut
• Make sure you are freshened up and well-groomed
• Take in to account the type of property you're interviewing for, as different
properties require varying levels of professionalism
• Example: If you are interviewing for the Ritz Carlton, you may want to
consider wearing a nicer blouse or sport coat
2. Prepare Your Technology

• Make sure you have a stable internet connection


• Use a laptop or a computer with a webcam
• A tablet or smartphone are options if you don’t have access to a computer
• Ensure your devices are charged
• Use headphones with a built-in microphone when possible
• If using a computer or smartphone's built-in microphone, ensure it remains
stationary and unobstructed by anything that might muffle the sound
• Create a test call to ensure your video and audio are working properly
• Ensure you have a stable connection 20-30 minutes prior to your interview so there
is sufficient time to address any issues

3. Prepare Your Space


• Ensure you are in a quiet well-lit place
• Make sure you are alone and will not be interrupted by other people, pets, or noises
• Refrain from having others assist you during the interview
• Avoid coffee shops, communal spaces, and cars
• Find a space with a neutral background free from distractions
• Consider utilizing the blur background feature before joining calls
• Turn your phone on silent so it does not interrupt your interview
4. Do Your Research

• Visit the Company’s website and learn about their culture, values, and goals
• Study the Job Order and relate their requirements to your own experience
• Come prepared with any questions you may have
• Ask questions about the Company that demonstrate you've done your research!

• Practice questions can help you appear more confident and reduce nervousness during the
interview
