I want to become a chief engineer in your company in the future. By this way I can
support my family well, I have good and happy family, I can visit many country in
the world as well.

2. What are your strengths and weaknesses?


Strengths: good health, hard working, enthusiastic man, like to support and help other
people.
Weakness is:
I am afraid to fail. But as I fail, I learn from my mistakes.
3. Your last vessel
- Bulk Carier, Container ship, tanker, passenger, offshore vessels, fishing….
What is your embarkation port?
What is your trading area of your ship?
What kind of main engine? Main engine power, diesel generator power.
4. Why do want to be an officer onboard?
I want to be an officer onboard because I believe that I can use my leadership skills in
order to motivate and inspire my fellow seafarers to make them also a leader.
5. How many years do you want to be a Chief Engineer?
I can’t confirm exactly, but I hope after 8 years I want to become CE, I need to pass CE
lesson test. Before become CE on board ship I also need pass company interview. In my
mind I always work and study hard to become CE as soon as possible.
6. How long will you work in our company?
I believe that is a give and take, and an opportunity to be in this company. So I will stay
in this company as long as the company needs my service.
7. How much salary do you want to get from my company?
I can’t decide my salary, this depend on my rank.

8. 2nd Engineer
- As a 2AE, how do you go about your day to day activity onboard?
- Have you handle PMS program before? What is the name of the program? How do
you update the running hours of the machinery assigned to you?
- During preparation for arrival or departure, how do you check the steering in
accordance with SOLAS regulation?
- Prior entry to ECA what do you normally do?
- A new model of fuel injector for main engine was supplied to your vessel what are
you going to do?
- During your watch one of the main engine unit was indicating high exhaust
temperature reading. What action would you take?
- How do you manage an engineer who is more knowledgeable than you are but have
an attitude problem?
- It is your first week onboard, you notice that there is a pipe connected from the
discharge of bilge pump to the boiler blow down valve, what are you going to do?
- What would you do if your bilge tank is full? What are the ER bilge discharge
criteria as stated in MARPOL Annex I which is applicable to bulk carriers?
- What is the present FO sulfur content limit when entering ECA? EU? CARB?
- The CE discussed to you that there is a need to change all the fuel injector in the ME
cylinders, what are you going to do?
- What is the relevance of taking the crankshaft deflection in an engine?
- In case you have a scavenging fire in your engine while the engine is at full speed,
what will be your actions?
- Please describe to me how you plan your maintenances and the delegation of jobs to
your engineer who are doing watches?
- Describe the sound you hear when the Gen. Emergency Alarm is sounded
- During preparation for arrival or departure, how do you check the steering in

Maintain all chemicals in correct position - separate acid from alkaline products.
- Sewage Treatment Plant: Change system in to after tank. Grey tank also. Add
chlorine tablet 10 tablets in system. Put pump in auto…
- All Valve Overboard must be closed and locked, sealed.
- Emergency Suction Valve must be closed and sealed
- Escape Trunk must be lighted and have first aid equipment.
- Tank Top must be cleaned, dry.
