ANDROID APPLICATION FOR DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENT

ABSTRACT

In today’s world if someone wants to book a Doctor’s Appointment we need to call in


clinic orpersonally go to that place and book the appointment. This consumes precious time of
the patient. Also if the doctorcancels his/her schedule, the patient does not come to know about it
unless he/she goes to the clinic. The objective ofthis project is to build a system that will ease the
process of booking appointment of the doctor. The patient will bookthe appointment through
his/her mobile phone. The doctor will come to know the number of patients he has to
attendwhole day. The system will save patient’s as well as doctor’s time. It will save the
receptionist’s paper work. Thesystem will prove to be useful for doctor as he can check his
appointments whenever and from wherever he wants fromhis mobile phone.Through a mobile
application the patient can make an appointment to a particular doctor from the place we have
been instead of going to clinic or making a call. The nature of human mind will forgot the things
hence this application will remind through intimation about the appointment to the user.
SYSTEM ANALYSIS

EXISTING SYSTEM:

The existing system consists of booking a doctor’s appointment through the website. The
website is called doctor appointment. The website is very useful as it provides various features.
The appointment confirmation is given by a sms.

DISADVANTAGE:

 The main drawback of this system is that, it is a website and one requires a very good
internet connection as loading of web pages may take a long time.
 Along with this, there is another android app available on play store but it is a paid app,
hence everyone cannot afford to use it.
PROPOSED SYSTEM:

The proposed system consists of two panels: Doctor and Patient. The users will first have
to download the applicationand install it in their mobile devices. Once installed, this application
will remain into the device permanently until theuser deletes it or uninstalls it. The patient will
have to register into the application for the first time. On registering, thepatient will receive a
username and password. The patient can use this username and password for logging into the
appeach time he uses it. After logging in, the patient will have to select a filtration type. The
filtration is done on two bases:Area wise and Specialty wise. After selecting the filtration type,
the doctors list will be displayed. The patient canselect any particular doctor and view his profile.
Also the patient can view the doctor’s schedule and look for anappointment according to his
convenience. The patient will then send a request for appointment. The doctor can eitheraccept
the appointment or reject it. The database will get updated accordingly and the patient will get a
confirmationmessage. The add-on to this system is that the patient will receive a notification 2
hours before the actual appointment.This will be very useful in case the patient tends to forget
the appointment.

 Operating system : Windows-7/10/11.


 Coding Language : Java 1.8 and PHP 5.6.
 IDE : ADT 22.0.
 Backend : MySQL 10.
 Web Server : XAMPP 5.6.
