BSEd- Mathematics 3

Activity 2: Process – and Product – oriented Performance – Based

Assessment
A. Direction: For Each of the following task, identify three (3)
process – oriented learning competencies.
1. solve problems involving conversion of units of measurement
2. evaluates algebraic expressions for given values of the variables.
3. poses problems that can be solved using Statistics.
B. Direction: Formulate a concrete output based on the following
topics and make your justification.
1. 1.) Calculate the estimated travel time based on an average driving
speed in miles per hour (mph).
Justification: Understanding conversions of units of measurement is
crucial for practical applications such as travel planning, construction,
cooking, and more.
Through this task, students develop critical thinking skills by analyzing
the problem, making informed decisions, and justifying their choices in
converting units of measurement.
2.) Compare and contrast the solutions obtained from the graphing
and algebraic methods for both the equation and the inequality.
Discuss any discrepancies or similarities between the two approaches.
Justification: By engaging in this performance task, students
recognize the relevance of absolute value concepts in modeling real-
world phenomena and making informed decisions based on
mathematical analysis.
3.) Draw polygons with different numbers of sides (e.g., triangle,
quadrilateral, pentagon, hexagon). Measure and record the length of
each side for each polygon. Analyze the relationship between the
number of sides and the sum of their lengths.
Justification: Drawing and measuring polygons provide students with
a hands-on opportunity to explore the properties of polygons, including
the lengths of their sides.
Activity 3: Task Designer
Direction: In your field of Specialization, choose a topic in the Grade 7
Curriculum (First Quarter) and develop a process – oriented and product –
oriented performance – based assessment, and construct appropriate scoring
rubrics.
Learning Competency: represents real-life situations which involve real
numbers.
Direction: Demonstrate understanding of the properties of operations
on the set of integers through a series of problem-solving tasks. Complete
the following tasks:
Process-Oriented Assessment
1. Problem Solving:
 Solve a series of problems involving addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division of integers.
 Show all steps taken to arrive at the solution, including the
application of the properties of operations on integers.
2. Justification of Solutions:
 Justify each solution by explaining the reasoning behind the
chosen operations and the properties applied.
 Provide clear and coherent explanations to support the validity of
the solutions.
3. Communication of Strategies:
 Communicate the strategies employed to solve each problem,
including any shortcuts, patterns, or insights utilized.
 Articulate the thought process and decision-making involved in
selecting the appropriate operations and properties for each
problem.
4. Reflection and Revision:
 Reflect on the problem-solving process, identifying any
challenges faced and strategies for improvement.
 Revise solutions, if necessary, based on feedback and reflection.

Product-Oriented Performance-Based Assessment

Direction: Produce written solutions demonstrating proficiency in solving
problems involving operations on the set of integers. Complete the following
tasks:
Written Solutions:
 Provide written solutions to each problem clearly and concisely, showing
all necessary steps and calculations.
Correctness of Solutions:
 Ensure that all solutions are accurate, with correct applications of
properties of operations on integers and logical reasoning.
Clarity and Organization:
 Present solutions in a clear and organized manner, with proper labeling of
operations and referencing specific properties applied.

Completeness of Solutions:
 Ensure that each solution addresses all components of the problem and
provides sufficient explanation and justification where necessary.
