Good Morning/Afternoon to Everyone Present Here,

Respected Chief Guest, Principal, faculty members, esteemed parents, and my dear students,

It is indeed an honor to stand before you today on this joyous occasion of our College Day
celebration. As we gather to reflect on our achievements and celebrate our journey, it is essential to
acknowledge the legacy and contributions of this esteemed institution—Bharathidasan Government
College for Women.

Established in the academic year 1968–1969, this institution has been a beacon of empowerment
and education for women. Named after the legendary poet Bharathidasan, the college has not only
stood as a testament to his ideals but has also carried forward his vision of enlightenment and
progress.

Over the past 57 years, Bharathidasan Government College for Women has grown phenomenally—
both in quality and quantity. Today, it proudly offers 14 undergraduate courses and a Ph.D. program
across Science, Arts, and Commerce streams. This breadth of academic programs ensures that we
cater to the diverse aspirations of our students, preparing them for a world filled with opportunities.

A significant milestone in our journey came in the academic year 2004–2005 when the college was
granted autonomous status, making it the first autonomous institution in the Union Territory of
Puducherry affiliated with Pondicherry University. This recognition was not just an honor but a
responsibility that we embraced with determination. Our autonomy was further extended from 2012
to 2018, reaffirming the trust placed in us to uphold the highest standards of education.

Our students have consistently made us proud with their excellence in academics, extracurricular
activities, and community involvement. Their achievements are a reflection of the dedicated efforts
of our faculty and the collaborative spirit that defines our institution. Moreover, our Placement Cell
plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our students, enabling more than 300 young women
every year to step confidently into the professional world with suitable jobs.

In today’s knowledge-based economy, the college continues to focus on fostering innovation,


creativity, and skills that align with the needs of the modern world. Bharathidasan Government
College for Women remains committed to nurturing its students into leaders, thinkers, and
changemakers who will contribute meaningfully to society.

As we celebrate this day, let us take a moment to acknowledge the tireless efforts of everyone who
has contributed to this institution's success—our visionary leaders, dedicated faculty, supportive
parents, and most importantly, our enthusiastic students.

Dear students, the stage is set for you to achieve greater heights. Remember that education is not
just about acquiring knowledge; it is about transforming yourselves and the world around you. With
the legacy of Bharathidasan as your inspiration, aim to make a positive impact in whatever path you
choose.

Let us together continue to strive for excellence and uphold the values that make Bharathidasan
Government College for Women an institution we are all proud to be a part of.
