Write Blocker USB Assignment

1. Start a log and document your steps and results

1. log the make, model, and size of your USB drive

ONN 16GB

2. Plug in the USB flash drive

3. Calculate an MD5 hash for the drive. Add documentation of the hash value in your log file,
and include a photo of the value in the log as well.

MD5 hash value: f0cbe8b33f86e6fb76a5169529db52ee

4. Add any file to the USB drive, document the file


5. Re-calculate the MD5 hash (repeat step 3)

6. Unplug the USB flash drive

7. Go to https://www.windowscentral.com/how-enable-write-protection-usb-devices-
windows-10 and follow the steps 1-10 to write protect USB drives. (should work for
Windows 7, 8, and 10)

8. Restart Windows.

9. Plug in the USB flash drive

10. Try to add another file

1. record if it worked or not, photo any error messages

Adding a document to USB drive does not work after enabling write-protect.

11. Re-calculate the MD5 hash and record and photo the value.
