Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity
A. ACTIVITIES

Greetings

Good morning class! How are you

all today?
Good morning, Ma’am. We’re doing fine.
That’s good to hear! Let’s have a fun
and productive lesson and I am
expecting that everyone will
cooperate today.
“Yes Ma’am”
Prayer

Before we begin the lesson,

everyone kindly stands up for the
opening prayer. Aira, can you please
lead the prayer. (Aira will lead the prayer)
Classroom Management

Before you sit down, pick up all the

trash under your seats first and
arrange your chair properly. (Students will arrange their chairs and will pick
up the trashes.)
You may all sit down.

Checking of attendance

Let’s check the attendance. When I

call your name, please say present.

(Teacher will call out names one by

one and marks attendance.) (Students will say present.)
Recall

“Before we begin, let’s recall our

previous lesson. Who can
remember what we learned
yesterday?”
“We discussed literary genres.”
“That’s correct! Can someone give
me an example of literary genres?”
“Fiction, poetry, drama, etc.”
“Good job!”

Lesson Proper

“Alright, class! Before we proceed

into our discussion, please check the
link I’ve sent in our group chat. Click
on it and share your thoughts by
answering this question: What comes
to your mind when you hear the word
‘genres’?”

“Take a moment to think about it and

share your response. Let’s see how
many different ideas we can gather!”
(Students will share their thoughts in mentimeter
link.)
(Teacher will wait for students to
submit their responses and discuss a
few interesting answers.)

"Great answers, everyone! Now, let

me ask you—who here loves
watching movies?"
(Students will respond.)
“Wow! Since we’re talking about
genres, let’s make this fun. We’ll
have a quick game. I’ll divide you
into two groups. Each group will take
turns answering questions. The team
with the highest score wins! Are you
all ready?”
“Yes, Ma’am.”

(Teacher will use the Baamboozle

tool, to engage students with exciting
questions about genres.)
(Students will play the activity as a group.)
B.
C. ANALYSIS

"So, the activity we played earlier is

what we called the literary genres
which we also discussed on our last
meeting. Your answers are the few
of the many examples of written
genre. But, remember genres are not
only in written or spoken form.
They can come in visual as well.
This is what we call the VIEWING
GENRE. This type of genre is what
you usually seen on television,
internet and other media.”

“Now, for your next task, Scan the

code and match the picture with its
correct genre.
(Students will do the activity through worldwall
tool.)
Did you sort correctly all the
pictures?
“Yes, Ma’am.”

Guide Questions:

1. How did you know which genre (Students answers may vary.)
each picture belongs to?

2. What have you observed with (Students answers may vary.)

each of the feature of the
material viewed?

3. How are they different from one (Students answers may vary.)
another?

D. ABSTRACTION

Now, be ready to take off to explore

deeper the features of each genre,
we’re going to explore the different
genres of viewing. I want you to
pick a door and discover different
types of media content! Are you
ready?” “Yes, Ma’am.”

(Teacher will present a powerpoint.)

“On this slide, you see multiple

doors. Each door hides a different
viewing genre. You will take turns
selecting a door, and we’ll explore
what’s behind it together. Let’s
begin! Who wants to pick the first (Students will raise hands.)
door?”

"Great choice! Behind this door is

Animation. First, let’s watch a short
clip. Pay close attention to its
features!"

(Teacher will play an animated

movie clip.)

"Now, what did you notice about the

clip? What do you think what makes
it different from other videos you (Students will share their observations.)
have watched?"

"Animation is a type of viewing

genre where characters and objects
are created through drawings,
puppets, or computer-generated
images that appear to move. It often
has vibrant colors, exaggerated
expressions, and exciting sound
effects to capture the audience's
attention. Animations can be used
for entertainment, education, and
advertising. Some popular examples
include the video clip that you
watched which is titled the "Lion
King" Some famous examples is the
"Frozen" and the "Toy Story". Who
here enjoys watching animated (Students will response.)
movies?

"Why do you think animation is

such a popular genre?" (Students response may vary.)

"Now, let’s go back and pick

another door!"

"This door reveals Documentary!

Let’s watch a short documentary
clip first."

(Play a short documentary excerpt.)

"Now, what did you learn from this
clip? How is it different from
animation?" (Students response will be vary.)

"A documentary is a non-fiction

genre that presents real-life events,
people, and stories in an informative
way. Unlike movies or animated
films, documentaries aim to educate
and inform rather than entertain.
They often include interviews, real-
life footage, and voice-over
narration. What kind of topics do
you think documentaries usually “Nature, history, social issues, and scientific
cover?" discoveries”

"Documentaries help us understand

the world by giving us in-depth
knowledge about important topics.
Let’s move on to the next door!"

"Next up, Princess can you choose

what door to pick? Alright, we have
News or News Flash! Let’s watch a
short news report.

(Teacher will play a short clip of a

news broadcast.)

"What did you notice about this

clip? How was the information “News anchor, the headlines, and the factual
presented?" tone”

"News programs deliver real-time

updates on current events, whether
local, national, or international.
News flash segments provide brief
and urgent reports on important
happenings, such as weather
updates, natural disasters, or
government announcements.
Examples include TV Patrol, 24
Oras, and CNN News. Why is it (Students will share their thought.)
important to watch news?
"Now, let’s head back and open
another door!" “Singing, dancing, comedy skits, or contests”

"This door reveals Variety Shows!

Let’s watch a short clip."

(Play a segment from a variety

show.)

"What kind of performances did you

see in the clip?"

"Variety shows are entertainment-

based programs that mix different
performances such as music, games,
and celebrity segments. Their goal is
to entertain the audience. These
shows are usually lighthearted and
fun to watch. Popular examples
include Eat Bulaga, ASAP, and
Pilipinas Got Talent. Have you ever
watched a variety show? What did
you like about it?"

"This door leads to Movie Trailers!

Watch this short clip and pay
attention to how the movie is being
promoted."

(Teacher will play a movie trailer.) "Fast-paced editing, music, and important
scenes highlighted"
"What did you notice about the
trailer? What makes it exciting?"

"A movie trailer is a short preview

designed to advertise a film before
its release. It includes exciting
scenes, key characters, and hints
about the story to make audiences
want to watch the full movie. The
purpose of a trailer is to build
excitement and attract people to the
cinema. Have you ever been excited
to watch a movie after seeing its
trailer?"

D. APPLICATION

"Now that we’ve explored all the

doors, let’s test what you’ve “Yes, Ma’am.
learned! I’ll show you a short video
clip, and you have to answer the
following questions through the
google forms. Ready?"

(Teacher will play a video clip from

https://youtu.be/xcIVPWnKiKY?
si=l1LXYIQN955MxRbM.)

1. What is the material all about?

2. What is the genre used in the

material viewed?

3. What significant information did

you get from the material?

4. Are this information essential to

(Students will answer through the google form
you as a student? Why?
link.)
5. How do this information affect
the Filipino culture?
“Yes, Ma’am.”

“Are you done answering?

“Animation, Ma’am because I love watching

anime”
"Now, let’s reflect on what we’ve
learned. Can anyone share their
favorite genre and why they like it?"
“It makes it easier for me to choose what to
watch depending on what I need or like”
Alright! And why is it important to
know different viewing genres?

Correct! knowing different viewing

genres helps us understand the
media better and choose what’s best
to watch. Some genres entertain us,
while others educate us. It’s “It is important to understand the material we
important to be aware of what we viewed so we can get the right information, think
watch so we can make good critically, and avoid being misled.”
choices.

Why is it important to understand

the material we viewed?

“Very good! Remember, we do not

simply watch or view these
materials to be entertained or merely
because we want to watch them.
More importantly, an understanding
of the material viewed help us
navigate the information we want to
find. Also, through learning the
different features, purpose and
intended audience for each

particular genre, help us learn the
needed information easily and
efficiently.”

“Okay, do you have any questions

regarding the topic we have
discussed?”

If none, please scan the code flash

ASSIGNMENT

“Before we end this discussion, this

is your assignment.”

“You will compare two viewing

genres to understand how they
present information, emotions, and
storytelling techniques differently”.

“Here's the guide and rubrics to

make your own comparison table:”

A. Choose any two genres from what

we discussed earlier such as
documentary vs. animated.

B. Create a simple comparison table in

Canva, focusing on three key
aspects: visuals (use of colors,
camera angles, and special effects),
tone (the emotions conveyed, such
as serious, humorous, or
suspenseful), and purpose (whether
the genre aims to inform, entertain,
or persuade).

C. After completing your table, write a

short paragraph (3-5 sentences)
summarizing your comparison,
explaining how the two genres
approach the same topic differently
and highlighting their key
differences in storytelling
techniques.

D. Finally, save your work and submit

it to our Google Drive. Make sure “Yes, Ma’am”
your table and summary are clear,
well-organized, and complete before
submission.
“None”
(The teacher will present the rubrics
on the presentation.)

“Are you done copying or taking

picture of your assignment?’

“Any questions about your

assignment?”
“Goodbye, Ma’am”
“Alright so that’s all for today,
arrange your seats and pick up the
trashes before leaving the
classroom.”

“Goodbye class, see tomorrow and

please don’t forget your
assignment.”
