Belief in Life After Death (Resurrection and Judgment)

Main Points:

1. End of the World:

o One day, the world will end, and everything will be destroyed. This day is called
Qayamah (The Last Day).
2. Resurrection:
o All people who have ever lived will be brought back to life. This is called Hashr
(Resurrection), and they will be judged by Allah.
3. Judgment:
o Allah will review everyone's actions (good and bad) and decide their reward or
punishment.
o Good people will be rewarded with eternal happiness (Paradise), while bad
people will be punished in Hell.
4. Importance of Belief:
o Believing in life after death is essential in Islam. All Prophets, including Prophet
Muhammad (PBUH), taught this.
o If someone does not believe in it, they are considered to be rejecting a
fundamental part of the faith.
5. Effect on Behavior:
o Belief in the afterlife helps guide people to make good choices, avoid bad actions,
and live a righteous life, knowing they will be judged for everything.

Summary: Belief in life after death teaches that the world will end, and everyone will be
brought back to life for judgment. Those who lived good lives will be rewarded with Paradise,
while those who did wrong will face punishment in Hell. This belief shapes how Muslims live,
encouraging them to make choices that will lead to eternal happiness.

Belief in Al-Qada' wa'l-Qadar (Divine Will)

Main Points:

1. What is Belief in Qadar?

o Qadar is the belief in Allah’s Divine Will. It's the 6th pillar of faith in Islam.
o Allah’s Knowledge: Allah knew everything before it happened and will happen.
Everything occurs according to His knowledge and will.
o Pre-Assigned: Everything, including events, actions, and life’s outcomes, is
written in the "Preserved Tablet" (Al-Lawh-ul-Mahfoodh).
2. The Four Aspects of Belief in Qadar:
o Allah’s Knowledge: Allah knows everything that happens, whether past, present,
or future.
o Pre-Assigned Actions: Allah pre-ordained everything, including your fate, before
creation.
oAllah's Will: Nothing happens in the heavens or on Earth without Allah’s will.
oAllah is the Creator: Only Allah creates everything. This doesn’t mean we
should stop trying or working towards our goals. Our efforts, like studying or
working hard, are part of Allah's plan for us.
3. The Merits of Belief in Qadar:
o Strengthens Dependence on Allah: Believing in Qadar helps us rely on Allah
after doing our part (working hard, etc.).
o Peace of Heart: Whatever happens, we are content, knowing it’s part of Allah’s
will, reducing stress.
o Eases Calamities: When facing difficulties, accepting that it's Allah's will brings
comfort. Instead of regretting or saying "if only," say "this is the Qadar of Allah."
o Forgiveness of Sins: Trials and difficulties, even small ones like a thorn prick,
are opportunities for Allah to forgive our sins.
4. Misunderstanding About Qadar:
o Belief in Qadar doesn’t mean we stop trying or working for our goals.
o Example: If someone asks, “Should I leave my camel untied and just trust Allah?”
The Prophet (PBUH) answered, “Tie it and trust in Allah.”
o We should always make efforts but trust that the results are in Allah’s hands.

Summary:

Believing in Qadar means accepting that everything is part of Allah’s divine plan. While we
should make efforts, it is ultimately Allah’s will that determines the outcomes. This belief helps
us depend on Allah, accept life’s results with peace, and find comfort during difficult times. It
also brings spiritual benefits like forgiveness for our sins.

Four Components of Qadar

Belief in Qadar involves accepting four key aspects:

1. Al-'Ilm (Knowledge)
o Allah knows everything: Allah has perfect knowledge of everything, whether it’s
past, present, or future. Nothing is hidden from Him, whether on Earth or in the
heavens.
o Key Point: Allah knows all things in detail from eternity to eternity.
2. Kitab (Writing)
o Everything is written: Allah has written everything that will happen, until the
Day of Judgment, in the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lawh al-Mahfooz).
o Key Point: Allah has decreed everything in His divine book before it happens.
3. Mash'eeah (Will)
o Everything happens by Allah’s will: Nothing happens or doesn’t happen
without the will of Allah.
o Key Point: Allah chooses and decides everything that happens in the world.
4. Al-Khalq (Creation)
o Allah is the Creator: Allah created everything in the universe and measured it
exactly as He willed.
o Key Point: Allah is the Creator of everything.

Do We Have Free Will?

 Yes, we have free will: We can choose to do things according to our desires, but our
choices are always within the scope of Allah’s will.
 Explanation: We are not forced by Allah to do anything, but we can only make choices
that Allah has allowed.
 Example: It's like a teacher knowing a student will fail the exam based on past
performance. The teacher’s knowledge doesn’t force the student to fail, just as Allah’s
knowledge doesn’t force us to act a certain way.

Key Points:

1. Free Will: We have the freedom to make choices, but those choices are made within
Allah’s will.
2. Knowledge vs. Free Will: Allah's knowledge of our choices doesn’t take away our
ability to make them. Just because Allah knows what will happen doesn’t mean He forces
us to act a certain way.
3. Our Choices: Our ability to choose is a gift from Allah, but it’s still part of His grand
plan.
