Important Info: most generic OBD2 apps do not support advanced diagnostics, for example Torque
Lite/ Pro (OBD2 & Car), Car Scanner ELM OBD2, OBD Auto Doctor, which means they cannot check
ABS, airbag (SRS), TPMS, etc. Also, some car brands are not supported for advanced diagnostics as
there is no proper App for the moment.
What’s the difference between OBD-II standard and advanced diagnostics?
The On-Board Diagnostics II (OBD-II) standard and advanced diagnostics refer to different levels of
diagnostic information and capabilities in vehicles.
OBD-II Standard diagnostics: Mandated by regulatory bodies (e.g., EPA in the United States) for all cars
and light trucks sold in certain regions and focuses on emissions-related data to ensure vehicles comply
with environmental standards. It provides access to a set of standardized diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs),
and live data parameters (standard PIDs) such as engine RPM, vehicle speed, fuel system status, and
oxygen sensor readings. These data and codes are standardized across different makes and models,
ensuring that a generic OBD-II scanner can read the basic diagnostic information from any compliant
vehicle.
Advanced Diagnostics: provides additional level of diagnostic data beyond what is required by the
OBD-II standard, including proprietary diagnostic trouble codes, and extended parameter identifications
(PIDs). These data are often specific to the vehicle manufacturer and model. Advanced Diagnostics
usually refers to vehicle systems such as transmission, ABS, airbags, body control modules, and more,
which requires more capable diagnostic tools or software that can interpret manufacturer-specific codes
and data.

Additional notes:
1. Modules in MS-CAN are not supported (For Ford/Mazda vehicles);
2. BMW and Mini model year before 2008 are not supported for advanced diagnostics;
3. For FCA vehicles equipped with secure gateway (around 2017 or 2018+), an additional adapter is
required to clear advanced codes. Please refer to the app page for more information.
4. Vehicles from recent years may not have been supported for advanced diagnostics. Please go to
the app website to check.
5. Cost of Apps Not Included; pricing information may change depending on the developer.
6. The list will be updated from time to time when new brands or models are supported. You can
contact Veepeak customer service to check if your vehicle is not listed.

Car Scanner App Connection Guide (iOS version)

1. Install the App from App Store.

2. Plug in the device, and make sure it fit snugly. Then turn on car ignition. Go to the Bluetooth

Important Note: this device uses Bluetooth LE for iOS devices. Please do not connect with VEEPEAK
here. Please start the app, and directly connect in the App. The App will make the Bluetooth LE
connection to the device.

Setting > Adapter OBDII ELM327 > Connection type: select Bluetooth LE (4.0+); under device name:

When the connection to both ELM & ECU are made, you can start to use.

Friendly reminder: If you experience any difficulty or issues during use, please read the instructions
for use or troubleshooting guide on the product detail page “Product guides & documents”. You can
also reach out to Veepeak customer support at [email protected] to get help.

The guide for Android version and other common Apps can be found on the
