What is troubleshooting?

 To troubleshoot is solving a problem or


determining a problem to an issue.

 Troubleshooting involves follows a set of


steps to determine the problem or resolve
the problem.
COMPUTER-RELATED
PROBLEMS
Cable Problems

POSSIBLE CAUSE TRY THIS


Loose power cord Make sure that the power cord is pushed in the
back of the peripheral device and that it is
plugged into a working electrical socket.
Monitor Problems
POSSIBLE CAUSE TRY THIS
Loose power cable Make sure that the power cord is in the back
of the monitor and that it is plugged into a
working electrical socket.
Monitor is not connected to the Make sure that the thick cable from the
tower/ System Unit monitor is present and is connected to the
correct part of the tower.
Turn both the brightness and contrast knobs
The brightness or contrast is too low (usually found on the bottom of the monitor)

If you left the monitor on and come back to find that


The computer has turned off the it isn’t showing anything (even though the switch is
monitor to save power to “ON”), move the mouse and/or push a button on
the keyboard.
Printer Problems
POSSIBLE CAUSE TRY THIS
The printer has no power Check to see if the power indicator on the
printer (if there is any) is on. If it isn’t, make
sure that the power supply is connected to the
printer and that it is plugged on into a working
socket. Push the power button on the printer.
Printer cable is not Make sure that one end of the printer cable is
connected connected to the printer and that the other is
connected to the back of the tower. If both ends
were already connected, try pushing them in
more firmly.
Printer is out of ink Replace and try printing again.
Device not responding when
turned on.

 This is a utility program used to scan the


computer for hard disk and flash drive
errors
 It checks and repairs file systems errors
on a disk drive.
Disk Defragmenter

Takes the fragments of files and


combines them on a hard drive so that
they are stored alongside each other.
Disk Cleanup

This maintenance
utility is designed to
free up disk space on a
computer's hard drive.
