LABORATORY RULES and GRADING

● Morning sessions will start at 09:00, afternoon sessions will start at 13:40.
● There will be 4 experiments.
● All experiments must be performed and reports returned to receive a passing grade. Students who
do not complete this requirement cannot take the final exam. Grade NA is issued by the instructor
when a student does NOT fulfill the above requirements.
● Students are expected to study the experiments before coming to the lab. There will be a quiz
before each experiment. Questions will be about the experiment as well as safety subjects.
● The quiz will be at the beginning of the sessions.
● Students must read the safety manual on ODTUClass and they should be careful about all the
points in the document. Any reckless operation that risks the safety of you and others will be
penalized.
● Grading will be as follows:
a. 30% Quiz
b. 40% Laboratory Performance
c. 30% Report
● Laboratory groups will consist of 3 students, which will be announced before each experiment
and determined randomly.
● The ultimate purpose of the laboratory is to give you the training and set of skills to be a competent
engineer in power electronics area. Do not expect lab sessions where you merely follow the
instructions written on a paper.
● You have one week for experiment report after your experiment. The deadline is 23:59 on the
day one week later for your experiment. Each group will prepare a single report.
● Reports should be written in computer and submitted in pdf format.
● Reports are to be submitted to ODTUClass. All reports will be checked for plagiarism using
Turnitin software. All of the group members with plagiarized reports will be penalized.
● All group members should participate in the preparation of reports.
● The datasheet and graphs should be signed by the laboratory assistants after the completion of the
experiment. Please include a photo or scanned version of it in your report.
● You need to have an official excuse (medical report etc.) to attend a make-up experiment. If you
have an exam coinciding with your experiment, inform your lab coordinator before the
experiment day and bring a printout of the Student Information Program on OIBS, so that you
can be given a make-up experiment.
● You will be informed through e-mail, please check your mailboxes regularly.

properly, and warn the group members who do not follow the rules.

precautions and warnings for your own and group members.

● Check the connection and read what to do next, while waiting for the assistant to check the
connection of the relevant part.

After the experiment, you must:

● Turn the power off, disconnect all cables neatly and leave the table neatly.
● Have the datasheet signed to the assistant and attach it to the report.
● Ask any questions about the course, after the experiment is finished.
● Wait until the end of the experiment to review quiz papers, previous reports, etc.
● Write the report all together with the group members, not to forget that the whole group will be
