TUTORIAL NO: 1
Objectives
After completing this sheet, you will be able to

1. Start AutoCAD and describe the graphics screen and text screen and explain how to
switch back and forth between them. Describe how to communicate with AutoCAD using
the keyboard, the cursor menu, the screen menu, the pull-down menu, the toolbar menu
and the dialogue box.

2. Define and explain how to execute the commands and system variables available in
AutoCAD. Define an option line and default.

3. Describe and apply the commands UNITS and LIMITS and their options.

4. Describe and apply the Cartesian Coordinate System and the Polar System and their
options: Absolute and Relative Coordinates.

5. Describe and apply the commands LINE, POINT, and XLINE and their options.

Exercise
Construct the following figures using LINE and POINT commands with coordinates and
distance mode. Use XLINE command, if necessary.
