Midterm: (20 Marks)
1. Explain the main applications of the DC-DC converters. (5 marks)
2. A buck-boost regulator has an input voltage of 12 V. The duty cycle is 0.6 and the
switching frequency is 25 kHz. The inductance L = 250 µH and filter capacitance C = 220
µF. The average load current is 1.2 A. Determine
a) the average output voltage; (3 marks)
b) the peak to peak average output voltage ripple; (3 marks)
c) the peak to peak ripple current of inductor; (3 marks)
d) the peak current of the transistor; (3 marks)
e) the critical values of L and C. (3 marks)
