Windows General Shortcuts
Ctrl Shortcuts:
o Ctrl + A: Select All – Quickly selects
all items (text, files, etc.) in the
current window.
o Ctrl + C: Copy – Copies the selected
item(s) to the clipboard.
o Ctrl + X: Cut – Removes the
selected item(s) and places them on
the clipboard.
o Ctrl + V: Paste – Inserts the item(s)
from the clipboard.
o Ctrl + Z: Undo – Reverses the last
action.
o Ctrl + Y: Redo – Reapplies an action
that was undone.
o Ctrl + S: Save – Saves the current
document or file.
o Ctrl + P: Print – Opens the print
dialog to print the current document.
o Ctrl + F: Find – Opens a search box
to locate text within a document or
webpage.
o Ctrl + H: Replace/History – In many
apps, opens find/replace; in
browsers, opens history (depending
on context).
o Ctrl + N: New – Creates a new
document, window, or file.
o Ctrl + O: Open – Opens an existing
file.
o Ctrl + W: Close – Closes the current
window or tab.
o Ctrl + Tab: Switch Tabs – Cycles
forward through open tabs.
Alt Shortcuts:
o Alt + Tab: Switch Applications –
Quickly toggles between open
applications.
o Alt + F4: Close Application – Closes
the active window or program.
Windows Key Shortcuts:
o Win + D: Show Desktop – Minimizes
all windows to display the desktop.
o Win + E: File Explorer – Opens the
File Explorer window.
o Win + L: Lock PC – Locks your
computer.
o Win + R: Run Dialog – Opens the
Run command box to execute
commands or open programs.
Other Important Shortcuts:
o Ctrl + Shift + Esc: Task Manager –
Opens Task Manager directly.
o Print Screen: Screenshot – Captures
the entire screen (often combined
with Alt for the active window).
Additional Suggestion:
Win + I: Opens the Settings app, which
is very useful for quickly accessing
system configurations.
