The Elysium Prize is an interdisciplinary mathematics competition set in 2047, focusing on challenges in quantum fairness, photonic transformations, biomarker analysis, and topological consistency. Participants must solve complex problems involving p-adic fairness in prize distribution, analyze photonic facade transformations, and establish connections between patient biomarker data and prize algorithms. Solutions must be submitted in a specific format, demonstrating comprehensive proofs across all four domains using advanced mathematical theories.

The Elysium Prize: An Interdisciplinary Challenge

Committee for Advanced Interdisciplinary Mathematics

Preamble: The Elysium Competition

In the year 2047, the newly constructed Elysium Tower – a marvel of photonic engineering
with its adaptive quantum-dot facade – has become ground zero for the most prestigious
interdisciplinary mathematics competition. The tower’s facade generates dynamic rain-
bow patterns through controlled Mie scattering in its plasmonic nanostructures, while its
foundation houses an advanced medical research facility studying p-adic biomarkers in
cancer patients.
Teams must simultaneously solve challenges in four domains:
1. Quantum Fairness: Design a prize distribution algorithm satisfying p-adic fairness
constraints

2. Photonic Transformations: Analyze the facade’s rainbow generation through Möbius

transformations

3. Biomarker Analysis: Compare patient data using p-adic gamma functions

4. Topological Consistency: Prove coherence between all systems

Problem Statement
Part 1: p-Adic Fair Prize Distribution
Let 𝒫(𝑛, 𝑘) be the set of prize distribution schemes among 𝑛 teams with 𝑘 discrete reward
levels. Define a p-adically fair distribution as one where for all primes 𝑝, the 2-adic valuation
of coalition payoffs satisfies:

𝑣𝑝 (∑ Γ𝑝 (𝑖)) ≥ 𝑣𝑝 (∑ Γ𝑝 (𝑗)) − 𝛿𝑝,2 log2 (1 + 𝜀)

𝑖∈𝐶 𝑗∈𝑁

where Γ𝑝 is the p-adic gamma function, 𝜀 the tower’s measured rainbow chromatic dis-
persion (0.072 rad/nm), and 𝛿𝑝,2 the Kronecker delta.
Task: Prove that no classical Shapley value distribution can satisfy p-adic fairness
when 𝑛 ≡ 3 mod 4, but construct an algorithm that does using Mahler coefficients of
Γ𝑝 .

1
Part 2: Möbius Photonic Engineering
The facade’s rainbow generation uses Möbius transformations in the complex refractive
index plane:
(1 + 𝑖𝜀)𝑧 + 𝛾𝑝
𝑓(𝑧) =
𝛾𝑝 𝑧 − (1 − 𝑖𝜀)
where 𝛾𝑝 = Γ𝑝 ( 12 + 𝑖 𝜆𝜆 ) with 𝜆 the wavelength and 𝜆0 = 550 nm.
0
Task: Show that the composition of three such transformations can approximate the
dispersion relation:
𝑛 (𝜆) 𝜋
𝜃(𝜆) = 2 arcsin ( eff ) + Δgamma
𝑛0 2
where Δgamma = ∏∞
𝑝=2
|Γ𝑝 ( 12 )|𝑝 . Connect this to patient biomarker analysis through p-adic
Szegő kernels.

Part 3: Patient Biomarker Topology

For two cancer patients 𝐴, 𝐵 with p-adic biomarker sequences {𝑎𝑖 }, {𝑏𝑖 } ∈ ℤ2 , define their
diagnostic distance:

𝑎 −𝑏
𝑑𝑝 (𝐴, 𝐵) = ∥ ∏ Γ𝑝 ( 𝑘 𝑘 𝑘 )∥
𝑘=1
2
𝑝

Task: Prove this metric induces an ultrametric space homeomorphic to the Cantor set of
rainbow wavelengths in the facade. Construct a measure-preserving transformation to the
prize distribution space from Part 1.

Part 4: Grand Unification

Let ℱ be the facade’s photonic operator, 𝒟 the diagnostic space, and ℛ the prize distribu-
tion algebra. Consider the commutative diagram:

ℱ ℛ
Φ𝑝 Ψ𝑝
Θ𝑝
𝒟 ℱ⊗𝒟

where ℳ is your prize algorithm, Φ𝑝 the p-adic gamma transform, and Ψ𝑝 your patient
metric.
Task: Complete this diagram with proper natural transformations and prove the sys-
tem’s consistency using Hochschild cohomology with p-adic coefficients.

Submission Guidelines
Solutions must be typeset in LuaLaTeX using 12pt font and TeX Gyre Pagella. Include com-
plete proofs connecting all four parts through: (1) p-adic Hodge theory for prize fairness,

2
(2) Conformal welding of Möbius transforms, (3) Non-Archimedean patient geometry,
and (4) Topological quantum field theory for the unified system.
