Creating your logo JOB


and background image RESUME

The background image and logo are contained within one


convenient photoshop file.

Background.psd
To access this file go the folder LOGO_IMAGE and open
the file called Background.psd.

1 > Firstly you need to select and modify your logo.


> Double click on the EDIT LOGO HERE icon.
> This opens a smart layer document (psb) with all
the logo templates contained in layer folders.

2 > Choose the logo you want to use and then


simply edit the text details.
> SAVE and CLOSE the smart layer document.
> Your logo is now visible on the Background.psd

3 > Choose one of the background image supplied

from the layer group called IMAGES.

4 > To add your own image with retro effects,


open the layer group ADD YOUR IMAGE HERE,
in either Colour Images or Black Images
layer groups, simply paste your image on the
ADD YOUR IMAGE HERE layer.

IMPORTANT
Once complete, save the file as a Jpeg called
Background.jpg, this will help with auto-updating
of images in Adobe Indesign and Illustrator.

TIP
You can quickly navigate the layers of each item by 4
checking the ‘Auto Select’ box. When activated you
can simply select the item you want to change
by clicking on it.

Adobe Illustrator JOB


Templates RESUME

The Adobe Illustrator documents is created in


A4 and US Letter sizes.

The multi-page Adobe Illustrator (ai) document has


four pages. Individual pages are also supplied as Adobe 1
Illustrator eps. The document is in CMYK colours.

Grid
The layout grid is provided on an additional layer.
The grid layer is not visible by default.

To turn it on, navigate to the LAYERS palette and

click to show the eye icon on the GRID layer.

To update the header image you will first need to create
your own logo image - background.jpg (see page 4).

2 Select the image to update and then right click to


link to the folder LOGO_IMAGE and then the file
Background.jpg.

Changing Colour
You can edit the main colour in the document quickly by
changing the Main Colour swatch.

3 Select the Main Colour icon, double click it


and then add new colour values and then OK.

Adobe Indesign JOB


Templates RESUME

The Adobe Indesign documents is created in


A4 and US Letter sizes.

The InDesign document has four pages and uses one 1


master page. The document is in CMYK colours.

Master Page
The master page includes the header and footer.
Any changes will automatically update all pages.

1 To edit the master page double click the EDIT ME


master page icon.

To update the header image you will first need to create
your own logo image - background.jpg (see page 4).

To relink the file, select the image, right click

with the mouse and then select Relink... ,
navigate to the folder LOGO_IMAGE and select
the file called Background.jpg.

Changing Colour
You can edit the main colour in the document quickly by
changing the Main Colour swatch.

Select the Main Colour icon, double click it

and then add new colour values and then OK.

Font Styles
The document includes a number of clearly labelled
character styles so can quickly change type attributes.

Extra icons can be found in the folder ICONS.

Adobe Photoshop JOB


Templates RESUME

The Adobe Photoshop documents is created in


A4 and US Letter sizes.

Each photoshop file contains all four pages in a


single document. The document uses CMYK colours.

Photoshop 1
Each document contains clearly labelled layers and layer
groups so you can quickly navigate to the item you need.

1 The Photoshop document feature guidelines to


quickly align any items. The document includes 5mm
bleeds, trim areas are indicated by the outer guides.

2 The photoshop document has a Top and Bottom


layer group which contain the elements common
to all pages.

3 To add your logo and image, go to layer


ADD Background.jpg IMAGE HERE, click on the 4
icon to edit the smart object. Paste your new
background.jpg image then SAVE and CLOSE.
See page 4 if you have not already created
your own logo and background image.

4 The content for each page is contained in layer


groups ‘Letter’, ‘Page 1’, ‘Page 2’ and ‘Page 3’.

TIP
You can quickly navigate the layers of each item by 4
checking the ‘Auto Select’ box. When activated you can
simply select the item you want to change by clicking on it.

Microsoft Word JOB

The Microsoft Word documents are created in .docx 1


format for both A4 and US Letter sizes.

Creating your logo and background image


To update the header image you will first need to create
your own logo image - background.jpg (see page 4).

Pages
Each word documents include the four following pages:
1 Cover letter page
2 Resume summary page
3 Work and skills page
4 Education and references page

1 The word documents feature both a header
and footer design which is common to all pages.
To edit this double click on an item in either the
header or footer and edit the content. These
changes will now applied on all pages.

Saving and Exporting JOB


PDF Files RESUME

Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Microsoft Word


1 Choose File > Save As
2 From the Save As dialog box in the Format
drop-down menu select PDF format
3 Select the PDF preset you require from the
drop-down Adobe PDF preset:
4 Press Save

Adobe Indesign
1 Choose File > Export
2 From the Export dialog box in the Format
drop-down menu select PDF format
3 Select the PDF preset you require from the
drop-down Adobe PDF preset:
4 Press Save

Which Adobe PDF setting should I choose? 1

Professional Press Quality


1 You will need a High Resolution PDF for
professional printing. Set the PDF format to
PDF/X1a:2001. Check first with your print
shop, as they may have specific PDF settings
to integrate with their printing systems.

Online and Email


2 For online viewing and email you may need
to optimise the file for smaller file size.
To compress the pdf to its smallest size use
the Smallest File Size setting.
