2. Intervals Creation (Music Theory & Ear Training)

- Daily Exercise:
- Create all the intervals (except the 7th) starting from the note G and from the note E.
- Practice both ascending and descending intervals.
- Listen carefully to the sound of each interval.
- Write down the quality and the number of half steps between the notes (e.g., Major 3rd =
4 half steps, Minor 3rd = 3 half steps, Perfect 4th = 5 half steps, etc.).
- This written record will be discussed during our lesson.

3. Sight Reading & Musical Exploration (Using Schumann’s Album for the Young)

- Pre-Practice Listening:
- Before playing, listen to a recording of the selected piece to familiarize yourself with its
sound, phrasing, and dynamics.
- Daily Sight Reading:
- Choose one piece (or one page) from the album each day.
- Begin by sight reading the entire piece slowly, focusing on the overall flow.
- Focused Practice:
- Play through the selected piece at least three times to get a sense of its structure.
- Then break it down:
- Page Level: Play each page a minimum of 10 times.
- Bar Level: For more challenging sections, practice each bar 10 times.
- Emphasize correct pedal usage and aim for fluency without mistakes.
- Once you’re comfortable, try playing the piece by heart.
Weekly Overview

 • Monday – Friday:

Follow the above structure every day. Rotate through the pieces in the album so that you
gradually explore the entire collection.

 • Saturday (Lesson Day):

 • Complete your daily routine (scales, intervals, and sight reading).

 • Use Saturday’s session to review the week’s progress:

 • Identify any sections that need extra work.

 • Be ready to discuss your interval findings and any difficulties encountered

during sight reading.

This plan is designed to steadily improve your technical skills and musicality, preparing you
well for more complex pieces in the future. Feel free to adjust the number of repetitions or
the pace as you progress.
