Visualizing the end product of your hydroponic irrigation system with PLC

control, pH and EC monitoring, and water level management involves several

key components integrated into a functional system. Below is a description
of how the end product would look:

End Product Description:

1. Control Panel (PLC & HMI)

 PLCs and Relays: The control panel houses the PLC (such as FATEK,
DELTA, or Siemens S7) and relay modules. The PLC is responsible for
controlling the water pumps, dosing pumps, pH control pumps, and
other actuators based on the sensor data.

 HMI Display (optional): A Human-Machine Interface (HMI) panel is

mounted on the control panel to display real-time data such as pH, EC,
water level, and system status. The operator can interact with the
system to change parameters and observe alerts.

 Power Supply: The 24V DC power supply is mounted inside the panel
to power all the components.

2. Hydroponic Reservoir

 Water Reservoir: The hydroponic system has a large water reservoir

for holding the nutrient solution. The water level is continuously
monitored by a water level sensor.

 Water Pump: A submersible pump or water pump is placed in the

reservoir to circulate water to the plants. The pump is controlled based
on the water level readings.

 Dosing Pumps (Nutrient A & B): Two dosing pumps (for nutrients A
and B) are placed above the reservoir, connected to tubes that
dispense the nutrients based on the EC readings. These pumps are
controlled by the PLC to maintain the proper nutrient levels in the
solution.

3. pH and EC Sensors

 pH Sensor: A pH probe is placed in the nutrient solution, constantly

measuring the pH level. The sensor is connected to the Arduino/PLC,
which adjusts the pH by activating the acid or base pumps when
necessary.
 EC Sensor: The EC sensor measures the electrical conductivity of the
solution, indicating the nutrient concentration. The PLC adjusts nutrient
levels (through pumps) based on the EC value.

4. Pump Control System

 Acid/Base Pumps: The acid/base pumps are placed near the nutrient
reservoir, where they inject acids or bases to adjust the pH. These are
controlled based on the readings from the pH sensor.

 Water Pumps: The water pump maintains water circulation in the

system and is activated based on water level readings (e.g., low water
level triggers the pump to refill).

5. Wiring & Enclosure

 Wiring: All sensors, pumps, and the PLC are wired together, using
appropriate connectors and terminals. The wiring is organized and
insulated for safety.

 Enclosure: All electrical components are housed in a sturdy plastic or

metal enclosure to prevent damage from water and ensure safety.

6. Plant Growing Area

 Hydroponic Growing Setup: The system includes a growing tray or

grow bed where plants are placed, and the nutrient solution is pumped
over their roots. The hydroponic system might include aeroponic or
deep water culture setups.

 Grow Lights (optional): If the system is indoors, grow lights are set
up to ensure the plants get the required light for photosynthesis.

Additional Components

 Temperature & Humidity Sensors: These can be added to monitor

environmental conditions and send feedback to the PLC for further
adjustments.

 Mobile App Integration (Optional): For remote monitoring and

control, you could integrate the system with a smartphone app via Wi-
Fi (using ESP32, for example), allowing you to manage the system
remotely.
End Product Features

1. Automated pH and EC Control: The system automatically adjusts

the pH and nutrient concentration of the solution, ensuring optimal
plant growth.

2. Water Level Management: The system detects low water levels and
activates the water pump to refill the reservoir.

3. Real-Time Monitoring: pH, EC, and water levels are continuously

monitored, with the HMI or mobile app displaying real-time data.

4. Nutrient Dosing: Nutrients are added as needed based on EC

readings to maintain optimal growth conditions.

5. Compact Design: The system is designed to be compact and

modular, with all components housed in an easy-to-maintain enclosure.
