CLASS X WINTER COACHING

SIR DEVEN’S FORMULA SHEET
ST. ANTHONY’S SCHOOL GIRLS

1) CIRCLE :

a) Area of a circle = π r 2

b) Perimeter or Circumference = 2 π r

2) SEMICIRCLE :

a) Area of a semicircle = π r 2
2

b) Perimeter = π r + 2r or r (π+ 2 )

Arc of a semicircle = π r

3) QUADRANT :

a) Area of a quadrant = π r 2
4

b) Perimeter = π r + 2r or r ( π /2+ 2 )
2

Arc of a quadrant = π r
2

4) CONCENTRIC CIRCLES OR RING :

a) Area = π ( R2 - r2 )
b) Thickness = R - r

5) CYLINDER :

a) Volume = π r2h
b) Curved or Lateral surface area = 2 πrh
c) Total surface area = 2 πr (h+r )

6) HOLLOW CYLINDER :

a) Volume = π (R2 – r2)h

b) Thickness = R – r

7) CONE :

a) Volume = 1 π r2h
3
b) Curved or Lateral surface area = π rl
c) Total surface area = πr (l+r )
where,
l → slant height
and l = √ h2 +r 2

8) SPHERE :

a) Volume = 4 π r3 b) Surface area = 4 π r2

3

9) HEMISPHERE :

a) Curved or Lateral surface area = 2 π r2

b) Total surface area = 3 π r2
c) Volume = 2 π r3
3

RECAST SUMS:

a) Whenever the question says find the number then,

Number = Volume of bigger

Volume of smaller

b) When the question says anything apart from finding the number then,

Volume of first figure = Volume of second figure

NOTE :

1. Area of the shaded portion = Area of the bigger −¿ Area of the smaller
figure figure

2. When a SEMICIRCLE is converted into a CONE:

a) Arc of the Semicircle = Circumference of the Cone’s Base
π R = 2 πr or R =2r

b) Radius of semi circle = Slant height
