CONTENT STANDARD Year 1 - 2.1 Concepts of addition and subtraction. Year 2 - 2.1 Add within 1000.
Year 3 - 2.1 Addition within 10 000.
LEARNING STANDARD Year 1 - 2.1.1 Use and vary the relevant vocabulary in context of addition and subtraction. 2.1.2 Introduce the symbol
of addition, subtraction and ’equal to’.
Year 2 - 2.1.1 Add two numbers within the sum of 1000. 2.1.2 Add three numbers within the sum of 1000.
Year 3 - 2.1.1 Solve the number sentences involving addition of two numbers with the sum within 10 000. 2.1.2 Solve
the number sentences involving addition of three numbers with the sum within 10 000.
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE Pupils are able to tell numbers.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE(S) - By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils are able to :
Group A 1. 5.1 To recognize addition concept. i. To state the number of objects in the group. ii. To state two groups of counters and the total.
iii. To make two groups of objects and putting number cards to the group after counting the objects.
Group B 2. 5.2 i. To write the mathematical sentence for the process of regrouping. ii. To introduce symbols (plus) and (equal) in
mathematical sentence based on the pictures by the process of regrouping
Group C 3. 5.2 iii. To write the mathematical sentence based on the pictures by the process of regrouping.
SUCCESS CRITERIA(S)
Group A Pupils able to answer 10 questions of addition. (state number of objects in group)
Group B Pupils able to answer 10 questions of addition. (introduce symbol based on the process of regrouping)
Group C Pupils able to answer 10 questions of addition. (mathematical sentence)
