Quarter 4 – Grade 2

"Learning to read is the most important thing a child will do in


school." - Rudolf Flesch

We conducted a lesson on the consonant letter blend to Grade 2 students.


The objective of the lesson was to introduce the concept of the different letter
blend and help students recognize and read words containing this blend.

The lesson began with a review of consonant sounds and an introduction


to the concept of consonant blends. We explained that the letter blend is a
combination of the sounds that appear together in a word. We used visual aids,
such as pictures and diagrams, to illustrate this concept.

The students were then presented with a list of words containing the
different blend of letters.

To reinforce the students' understanding of the letter blend, we conducted


several activities: Reading Exercise: Students read words containing the letter
blend on their own. Word-Building Activity: Students used letter cards to build
words containing the letter blend. Matching Game: Students matched words
containing the letter blend with their corresponding pictures.

The results of the lesson were positive, with the majority of students
demonstrating an understanding of the different blend of letters. The students
were able to recognize and read words containing the blend with accuracy.

The lesson began with a review of developing word knowledge to


recognize sight words; decode high frequency words and content specific
vocabulary; use simple sentences to express ideas and narrate personal
experiences about their school and content-specific topics; and read grade level
sentences with appropriate speed, accuracy, and expression.

To reinforce the students' understanding of the sight words, we conducted


several activities: Reading Exercise: Students read words containing the sight
words on their own. Word-Building Activity: Students used letter cards to build
words containing the sight words. Matching Game: Students matched words
containing the sight words with their corresponding pictures.

The results of the lesson were positive, with the majority of students
demonstrating an understanding of the sight words. The students were able to
recognize and read words containing sight words with accuracy.

objective of the lesson was to introduce the concept of the "wh" digraph and help
students recognize and read words containing this digraph.

The lesson began with a review of consonant sounds and an introduction


to the concept of consonant digraphs. We explained that the "wh" digraph is a
combination of the /w/ and /h/ sounds that appear together in a word, making a
distinct /w/ or /hw/ sound. We used visual aids, such as pictures and diagrams, to
illustrate this concept.

The students were then presented with a list of words containing the "wh"
digraph, such as: Whale, Wheel, Which, White, Whistle

To reinforce the students' understanding of the "wh" digraph, we


conducted several activities: Reading Exercise: Students read words
containing the "wh" digraph on their own. Word-Building Activity: Students
used letter cards to build words containing the "wh" digraph. Matching Game:
Students matched words containing the "wh" digraph with their corresponding
pictures.

The results of the lesson were positive, with the majority of students
demonstrating an understanding of the "wh" digraph. The students were able to
recognize and read words containing this digraph with accuracy.

The lesson on the consonant digraph "wh" was a success, and we believe
that the students benefited from the instruction and activities. We plan to build

providing additional practice opportunities.
