CSXXX INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT)

Credits: 3 (3-0-0)
Pre-requisite for this ●​ C/Python language, Analog Electronics, Digital
course: Electronics.
Course Objective: ●​ To know the basics of Internet of Things Concepts and
Standards
●​ To know IoT concepts such as sensing, actuation and
communication.
●​ To know IoT communication protocols and its
implementation using Arduino, Raspberry PI, and other
Microcontroller.
●​ To learn various open source IoT platforms available such
as AWS IoT, Eclipse IoT, and Thingsboard.
●​ To know about IoT, Cloud integration and working
principle.

Course Outcome: On completion of the course, a student should be able to:


●​ Students will gain a foundational understanding of the
principles, concepts, and technologies that underlie IoT
systems, including sensor networks.
●​ Students will learn how to design, develop, and implement
IoT systems using various hardware and software components,
such as microcontrollers, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi.
●​ Students will gain an understanding of the architecture,
protocols, and standards of IoT systems, and be able to
evaluate and select appropriate solutions for specific
applications.
●​ Students will be able to apply their IoT knowledge to address
global challenges, such as climate change, energy
management, and smart systems.

Logical Design, IoT Enabling Technologies, IoT Levels and
Deployment Template.
Domain specific IoT: Home automation, cities, environment,
energy, logistics, retail, agriculture, industry, health and lifestyle.
Module II Module II
[12] Hours IoT Network Architecture and Design: Drivers Behind New
Network Architectures, Comparing IoT Architectures, The Core
IoT Functional Stack, IoT Data Management and Compute Stack.
IoT PROTOCOLS: IoT Access Technologies: Physical and MAC
layers, topology and Security of IEEE 802.15.4, 802.11ah and Lora
WAN, Network Layer: IP versions, Constrained Nodes and
Constrained Networks,6LoWPAN, Application Transport Methods:
SCADA, Application Layer Protocols: CoAP and MQTT.
IoT Platform overview: Overview of IoT supported Hardware
platforms such as: Raspberry pi, Arduino Board details.

Analytics Challenges, Data Acquiring, Organizing in IoT/M2M.
